Job Summary
Is responsible for building community relations in their assigned Oakland County geography to ensure that county services are available in these areas and that the county is fully aware of their concerns. This includes serving as a liaison with local elected officials, community leaders and community organizations and constituent groups to ensure awareness of county programs and services and to facilitate the county role in local projects and activities. Is also responsible for maintaining a community calendar for and planning special events within their community engagement district. Works collaboratively with the Community Engagement Manager and other community engagement team members and other county departments to ensure that county services are accessible to county residents. Coordinates special projects and recommend outreach opportunities that connect county government and residents. They will ensure that regular county updates are provided in their geographic area. Utilizes current Countywide and/or department specific software to complete assignments.
Minimum Qualifications

At time of application, applicants must:
1. Possess a Bachelors Degree from an accredited college or university with a preferred major in Business Administration, Communications, Political Science or a closely related field.
NOTE: Applicants possessing transcripts from a college or university outside of the United States will be required to provide documentation of degree equivalency from a member of the National Association of Credential Evaluation Services (http://naces.org/members.html). The degree evaluation will be required for application processing.
2. Have at least three (3) years of full-time professional work experience in community outreach, public relations, or a closely related field.
3. Possess a valid United States motor vehicle operator’s or chauffeur’s license. Out of Country driver’s license holders will be required to obtain the appropriate valid State of Michigan driver’s license before the hire date.
4. Pass the complete examination, including the employment medical, established for this classification.
5. Successfully complete the six month probationary period.
