General Description
This position supports the Office of Family and Community Engagement to identify, build and expand partnerships by engaging with local businesses, professional organizations and other external stakeholders that benefit Chesterfield County Public Schools. Focused on enhancing internal and external systems to support partnerships and alignment to key academic and division initiatives, this position will work to build strong relationships with the business community in order to maximize student learning and well being.
Essential Job Functions
Works closely with schools, central office departments, and within the community to ensure clear and essential communication, as well as build and maintain partnerships between students, families, schools and the communities they serve.
- Develop and maintain a partnership dashboard and asset map of partnerships existing at the school and division level in order to assess the impact of business partnerships within the division.
- Communicates within CCPS and external business organizations and stakeholders about opportunities for collaboration, engagement and involvement to help school-based staff maintain existing partnerships and expand partnerships that serve each school community.
- Educates community businesses around our strategic plan, school division initiatives and programmatic opportunities.
- Provides training and support for school-based leadership in the development of site-based family and community engagement plans.
- Leads efforts to recognize and showcase partnerships within the school division.
- Assists as needed with furthering the school division’s legislative program and maintains contacts as necessary with locally elected officials.
- Serves on committees and boards on behalf of the school division to maintain close ties to partners.
- Completes other duties as assigned by the Coordinator for the Office of Family and Community Engagement and/or the Chief Communications and Community Engagement Officer.

Report Preparation:
Prepares and delivers topical presentations to a variety of stakeholder groups. Various reporting and required record keeping, i.e. maintains lists of current supports available to families, and actively disseminate this resource bank to staff, etc.
Equipment Operation:
Operates personal computer, basic office equipment and equipment related to assigned area.
Contacts: Contacts are made with parents, school, staff, and administration, community and state agencies.

Physical Demands: Must have the ability to sit and stand for extended periods of time; exhibit manual dexterity to use a telephone, to enter data into a computer terminal; to see and read a computer screen and printed material with or without vision aids; hear, understand speech and speak in audible tones so that others may understand clearly at normal levels indoors and on the telephone. Physical agility to lift up to 25 lbs., drive, bend, stoop, sit on the floor, climb stairs, walk and reach overhead. Frequent movement throughout the school facilities is required.
Work Environment:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly works in a public school or office environment. The noise level in the work environment is quiet to moderate. Position requires working after normal contract hours.
Qualifications
Demonstrated understanding of the complex emotional, cultural and informational needs of families/guardians of students with and without disabilities as they navigate the educational system; requires demonstrated abilities in decision-making, problem analysis, conflict resolution, interpersonal relationships, leadership skills, and ability to communicate information effectively, both orally and in writing; demonstrated knowledge of facilitative skills, group dynamics, group learning modalities; ability to independently coordinate and balance multiple activities, prioritize, delegate responsibilities, and meet deadlines; ability to coordinate and monitor progress of long range planning goals; ability to collect, organize and disseminate data for VDOE and school district; demonstrated effective experience working with students and families of children with and without identified special needs.
Requirements
A bachelor’s degree in public relations, mass communications, business, or a related field is required. A master’s degree is preferred. Excellent planning, presentation, facilitation and organizational skills are required. Knowledge and ability to successfully market Chesterfield County Public Schools mission, vision, programming and initiatives is required. Considerable knowledge of and/or experience with the development and implementation of successful school-business partnerships is preferred. Demonstrated skills in coordinating and leading cross-team projects is preferred. Demonstrated ability in decision making, problem analysis, conflict resolution, interpersonal relationships, program management and research and planning is required. The ideal candidate should possess strong intercultural communication skills with the ability to make connections with diverse groups of individuals.
Must hold a valid Virginia driver’s license as this position is designated as a driving position. Driving record checks are performed annually in accordance with School Board Policy 5431.
Ability to work flexible hours during evenings and/or weekends as needed.
