General Summary
The Liberty Lagoon Community Park Facility Attendant will be assigned specifically to the BREC Liberty Lagoon Water Park ensuring that the facility conditions provide an opportunity for a positive experience. This person is a resource of information for the public to answer frequently asked questions regarding facts, rules, rentals, and the facility as a whole and post reservation notices at various pavilions. They will provide on-site presence as additional security by patrolling the site regularly and performing needed custodial and maintenance services such as cleaning restrooms, site furnishing and signage; picking up litter; maintain playgrounds; picnic facilities; mowing; pruning; watering; vacuuming pools and weeding.
Requirements and Job Specifications
Education Required: High school graduation or equivalent.
Certification(s) Required: First Aid/CPR
License(s) Required: Valid LA Class E Drivers License
Other Job Specifications: 1 year work experience in park or related commercial grounds care/landscaping, waterfront, custodial, customer service.
- Mechanical aptitude is required.
- Experience performing repair and maintenance work in public outdoor/recreation setting is preferred.
- Ability to read and relay to public information about BREC’s programs and facilities
- Strong interpersonal skills are required.
- Ability to prioritize, inspect work, organize other workers within guidelines or supervisors instructions.
- Ability to project a positive image to the public for BREC.
Functions and Duties
Job duties Include but are not limited to:
- Projects positive image for BREC.
- Communicates information to public about BREC’s Liberty Lagoon programs, facilities, and rules.
- Maintains informational signs for public.
- Inspects facility, recognizes and responds to needed maintenance.
- Insures safety of site by removing hazards and communicating with supervisor about needed maintenance and/or law enforcement authorities as needed regarding unsafe situations.
- Keeps site clean at all times. Performs all functions of grounds maintenance (mowing, edging, blowing, weed eating, trash removal, restroom cleaning, and all other duties as assigned.)

- Operates commercial type riding mowers, pickups, trucks; golf carts; trailers, related grounds maintenance equipment to maintain parks.
- Cleans and prepares equipment for operations.(Washes, sweeps, fuels, lubricates, etc)
- Inspects work of crews, relaying assignments.
- Operates, repairs and maintains pools and related equipment as needed.
- Cuts tree limbs, prunes shrubs, and maintains landscape beds.
- Assists with BREC special events at Liberty Lagoon.
Supplemental Information
Full-time, seasonal position. Schedule will vary as site work load requires may vary within framework of 8 hours per day, 5 days per week with rotating days as scheduled; meal breaks daily. Some evening and weekend hours as necessary; overtime as required.
As scheduled, generally 40 hours per week; meal break as needed. Occasional weekend work required.

2023 FULL-TIME EMPLOYEE BENEFITS
HEALTH INSURANCE: Comprehensive medical benefits including HMO, PPO, and Blue Saver (Qualified High Deductible High Savings Account) and options are provided through Blue Cross Blue Shield of Louisiana. Coverage is effective the first of the month, following two months of employment, a (2 month waiting period). Employee cost per month for HMO: $163.28 – employee only; $556.05 – employee & spouse or employee & dependent children; $895.83 – family. Employee cost per month for PPO: $349.22 – employee only; $907.92 – employee & spouse or employee & dependent children; $1,389.27 – family. Employee cost per month for Blue Saver: $36.38 – employee only; $151.41 – employee & spouse or employee & dependent children; $270.36 – family. BREC also offers voluntary insurance plans: Dental, Vision, and Supplemental Insurance (Accident, Cancer/Critical Care, Long and Short-term Disability, Term and Whole Life).
LIFE INSURANCE: All full-time employees are insured under a Group Term-Life Insurance policy through Equitable Life Insurance Company a subsidiary of Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Louisiana. Coverage is subject to decrease at age 65 and 70. There is no cost to the employee except for salaries more than $50,000 which are subject to the imputed income clause under the IRS regulations. Coverage is effective immediately.
RETIREMENT SYSTEM: BREC contributions to the City-Parish Employees’ Retirement System for each employee amount to 38.46% of salary. Employees contribute at the rate of 9.5%. Retirement contributions are tax deferred. Personal contributions are kept on account and refunded if employees leave BREC before their retirement. Additional benefit opportunities are available after 25 years through the DROP program. BREC also offers a Supplemental Retirement DEFERRED COMPENSATION PLAN through payroll deduction.
HOLIDAYS: BREC employees receive twelve (12) paid holidays per year.
SICK LEAVE: BREC employees accumulate sick leave at the rate of 100 hours per year the first five years they are employed; accrual of hours will increase based on the number of years of service, thereafter, up to 192 hours for 15 or more years. Employee is eligible to utilize leave after 30 days of continuous employment.
ANNUAL LEAVE: BREC employees earn annual leave at the rate of 100 hours per year the first five years they are employed; accrual of hours will increased based on the number of years of service, thereafter, up to 192 hours for 15 or more years. Employee is eligible to utilize leave after 90 days of continuous employment.
FULL-TIME STATUS: Upon completion of a six-month probationary periods and approval of supervisor, full-time status will be achieved.

FEDERAL STUDENT LOAN FORGIVENESS: BREC is a qualifying employer for public service loan forgiveness. Employees who have Federal Direct Loans and have made 120 payments on the Federal Direct Loans (after October 1, 2007) may be eligible for the remaining loan balance to be forgiven.
