What Your Job Will Be Like
Organization 03652, Community Involvement, is currently seeking a Community Relations Specialist to join their team!
The selected candidate will develop effective relationships with education, nonprofit, and community leaders to identify shared priorities and collaborative opportunities that benefit Sandia missions and the local communities, and increase the understanding of Sandia, its mission, and its workforce.
On any given day, one may be called upon to:
- Project strategic presence into the local community
- Represent Sandia in the community, including participation and leadership with key organizations
- Lead corporate-level employee engagement programs that benefit the community
- Manage the corporate contributions program
- Amplify Sandia’s community involvement programs to internal and external audiences
This position is eligible for telecommuting and the selected applicant must live within a reasonable distance for commuting to the assigned work location when necessary.
Salary Range
$75,900 – $146,200
*Salary range is estimated, and actual salary will be determined after consideration of the selected candidate’s experience and qualifications, and application of any approved geographic salary differential.
Qualifications We Require
- A Bachelor’s degree in Business, Communications, or a relevant field, plus 5 years related experience; or equivalent experience and/or achievements that demonstrate the knowledge, skills, and ability to perform the duties of the job
- The ability to acquire and maintain a DOE L-level security clearance
Qualifications We Desire
- Experience with the following:
- Implementing and utilizing software to facilitate philanthropy (e.g., employee giving/volunteering, grantmaking)
- Developing, planning, and implementing corporate-level employee engagement programs
- Leading a cross-functional team to provide large corporate employee engagement events
- Preparing communications that amplify community involvement programs internally and externally
- Managing corporate contributions programs (e.g., $1M+ budget, 150+ disbursements, grant review)
- Community relations, established relationships with community organizations, and/or proven involvement in the community
- Managing SharePoint and WordPress sites
- Managing and analyzing data
- Excellent interpersonal skills, including effective leadership and teamwork
- The ability to utilize project management skills to effectively coordinate, prioritize, and follow through to completion on multiple tasks

NNSA Requirements for MedPEDs
If you have a Medical Portable Electronic Device (MedPED), such as a pacemaker, defibrillator, drug-releasing pump, hearing aids, or diagnostic equipment and other equipment for measuring, monitoring, and recording body functions such as heartbeat and brain waves, if employed by Sandia National Laboratories you may be required to comply with NNSA security requirements for MedPEDs.
