This position will work with our Social Security Program.

WHAT WILL YOU DO:
The primary function of a Community Services Aide II is to assist customers in obtaining self sufficiency by connecting them to community resources, providing customer training and direct services. The Community Service Aide II also performs duties specific to special projects or programs as well as general operational duties. This work is performed in an office environment and in the field. May also include working outside of normal business hours.

Examples of Duties
AS A COMMUNITY SERIVCES AIDE II, YOU WILL HAVE THE OPPORTUNITY TO:
Interview and evaluate applicants for specific program services; monitor customers’ progress and ensure compliance with program requirements; develop customer services plans and provide case management services; serve as an advocate for customers as appropriate; prepare work/caseload statistics; complete and process various forms and reports; provide program related information and referral services; perform general office work as necessary, including but not limited to attending meetings, establishing and maintaining files; enter data into the computer; create spreadsheets and flyers; assist with fundraising and other Community Action Agency (CAA) activities; operate a County vehicle to transport customers and/or deliver services.

CONTROVERSIAL ISSUES:
As a Community Services Aide II, you may encounter customers who are emotionally charged, customers that have substance dependence, mental health issues, trauma or domestic violence history. You may be assisting customers whose values may conflict with your own values. A Community Service Aide II must be able to accept customers’ differences and interact with them in a non-judgmental manner.

Education, Experience & Licenses
Any combination of training and experience which would provide the required knowledge, skills and abilities is qualifying. A typical way to obtain the required qualifications would be:

  • Equivalent to the completion of twelfth (12th) grade.
  • Two (2) years clerical, technical, or interviewing and decision-making experience in a medical setting, financial setting, or in a disability insurance, worker’s compensation insurance, or social services agency, or a customer service setting which includes public contact and completing forms.
  • Other combinations of relevant education and experience may be considered.

License & Special Requirements:

  • Requires a valid California driver’s license.

In addition, Tehama County is establishing an eligibility list of qualified applicants for vacancies that become available within one year of the closing date of this job announcement. The department maintains the right to abolish the eligibility list at any time during the year and conduct another recruitment to establish a new eligibility list.
