Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Position Summary: Assists with the City’s human services needs, programs and services, the “Let’s Talk” program; Education Advisory Committee and Educational Scholarship program; school requests; coordinates the daily senior meal program, Feeding South FL food program and the City’s MOU for the food pantry; and ensures program compliance is met with applicable County and City regulations.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities: (The duties listed are intended to serve as an example of the typical functions performed. They are not exclusive or all inclusive and will vary with assignments.)
- Provides resources on available social service programs, makes referrals to residents on county programs and serves as the city’s liaison to PBC Community Services Department providing information and services on county funded programs (utility asst., food stamps, senior supports, shelter, Safe Place, foreclosure asst., etc.); provides residents with follow-up, and other services.
- Serves as the liaison to the city’s Education Advisory Committee.
- Coordinates the city’s Educational Scholarship Program by reviewing applications to ensure they meet submittal criteria, contacting students, scheduling/confirming interviews, drafting award letters, and more.
- Assists the Community & Recreation Services Director with topics for the “Let’s Talk” program.
- Coordinates the senior congregate meal program functions with the county; ordering food, completes senior intake forms, reads/records food temperature prior to serving, recruits volunteers for the program, and adheres to contractual obligations.
- Confirms delivery of frozen meals with Feeding South Florida.
- Coordinates the CROS MOU for the bi-monthly food pantry, and provides resources, markets services, programs, and events when appropriate.
- Assists with monthly, quarterly, and yearly performance measures, statistical and informational reports for services, programs, and activities.
- Assists with providing input and quotes for program supplies in the department’s annual budget.
- Provides information to schools, agencies, and the public on programs and services.
- Responds and acts upon special project requests and assignments.
- Provides Notary Public services.
- Assists in the maintenance of all division files, records, and documents.
- Assist with the design and marketing of program flyers and provides updates for inclusion on the CRS webpage.
- Performs general/clerical tasks, which may include answering telephone calls, assisting vendors, typing documents making copies and sending/receiving faxes.
- Work at all city events as needed.
- Provides assistance to other employees, as needed.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
Knowledge of:
- The principles, practices, techniques, and regulations of the CRS Department; program registrations, all program and facility rental information and procedures.
- Office terminology, methods, practices, and procedures.
- Departmental, municipal, and county applicable laws, rules, regulations, policies, and procedures.
- Customer Services procedures.
- Computer software, including a detailed knowledge of Microsoft Word, Outlook, Excel, facilities recreation software, and other programs.
- State of Florida public records laws.
- Records management practices and procedures.

- Pass & maintain the Department of Children and Families (DCF) Clearinghouse Level II Background check.

Education & Experience
- High School Diploma/GED required; Associate’s degree preferred.
- Two (2) years of professional experience in a public or not-for-profit agency setting assisting with contract compliance, providing social service supports to young and older adults.
- Bi-lingual preferred.
- Must obtain a Notary Public within six (6) months of employment.
- Possess and maintains a valid Florida Driver’s License.
