For over 50 years PSS has performed vital and important work — through its ten centers, two apartment buildings and affiliated programs. The agency touches the lives of over 1,000 people each day. As the Social Worker, you will be responsible for coordinating supportive services for residents in one of the many communities that PSS serves. The Social Worker’s role is vital in ensuring effective supportive services are put in place that allows the residents to remain independent, active and to thrive in their home and community.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Provide advocacy, support, and general case assistance services, including intakes and referrals, to all residents who need help or support.
- Collaborate with other agencies and service providers in the local community.
- Innovate programming and workshops, based on the needs and input from community members.
- Educate clients on service availability, application procedures, clients’ rights, and provide advocacy and follow up when appropriate.
- Develop and implement support and activity groups on a wide range of topics, with community members across the aging spectrum.
- Help the community members build informal support networks with other neighborhood residents, families, and friends.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work (Master’s preferred)
- Strong Program Management Skills
- Experience working with multiple age groups
- Superior Interpersonal and Organizational Skills
- Superior communication skills (written and oral)
- Bilingual fluency (English/Spanish) highly preferred
