Position Summary: The Lead Helpdesk Technician is responsible for Tier 1 and Tier 2 end-user support. Duties include imaging and preparing computers, installation of software, setting up hardware, troubleshooting issues, and training end users on technology solutions. The Lead Helpdesk Technician plays a key role in onboarding by setting up workstations and fulfilling equipment needs.
This position is part of a collective bargaining unit.
Responsibilities Include:
Administration:
- Manage and administer Office 365, Google Workspace, JAMF;
- Install and configure hardware and software to meet end-user requirements;
- Train staff on how to use provided hardware and software, while promoting best practices for information security;
Customer Service:
- Onboard new staff in-person and remotely by setting up their workstations and providing them assistance and guidance;
- Identify, troubleshoot, and resolve issue with hardware and software with minimum end-user disruption;
- Use independent judgment to perform advanced troubleshooting and problem resolution for all types of IT infrastructure including hardware, software, telecommunications, business application, printers, tablets, phone systems and customer connectivity;
- Utilize ticketing system to prioritize and respond to customer issues;
Compliance & Safety:
- Ensure systems are patched appropriately to keep them free of vulnerabilities;
- Follow all safety procedures and work as safely as possible at all times;
Budget:
- Research and recommend cost-effective solutions for resolving hardware and software issues or promote process improvement;
- Track hardware and software and maintains a current and up-to-date inventory;
- Other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Minimum 5 years of desktop support and/or help desk work experience;
- Working knowledge of patch management tools, Google and Microsoft systems and products;
- MCP, MSDST, A+ Certification preferred, JAMF Certification;
- Experience with computer networks, network administration, and network installation;
- Strong proficiency with the Microsoft Office Suite, Microsoft Active Directory, Google Workspace
- Working knowledge of managing in a corporate environment Windows 10/11, Mac OS, Android, iOS and Chromebooks;
- Experience managing and supporting Okta;
- High-level attention to detail, process detailed information effectively and consistently;
- Excellent verbal and written communication abilities across all levels of an organization;
- Ability to monitor the details and quality of one’s work and others’ work on the team;
- Commitment to electing Democrats and reclaiming the House majority;
