Why does the job exist?
This Education Administrator Advanced, Complaint Settlement Monitor position assists in the development of corrective action plans (CAPs) for complaint settlements. This position also monitors complaint settlement CAPs to ensure that students with disabilities harmed and thus the subject of the compliant settlements are made whole and regain access to Free and Appropriate Public Education (FAPE) in the Least Restrictive Environment (LRE).

How does it get done?
Assist the Departments Office of General Counsel in pursing the development of complaint settlement corrective action plans
Monitor state complaint corrective action plans and due process hearing decisions through desktop monitoring and as needed conduct on-site monitoring visits
Maintain a corrective action plan database for purposes of meeting federal reporting and compliance requirements
Coordinate with stakeholders to ensure that inquiries are routed appropriately and are acted upon in a timely manner
Conduct duties associated with administering due process orders
Provide subject matter expertise in support of public information requests and legislative analysis.

Minimum Qualification
Bachelor’s degree in Education, Public Administration or Business Administration and five (5) years of experience as a teacher and/or program administrator. Substitutions apply. See Substitution Table below.

Employment Requirements
Must possess and maintain a valid New Mexico’s Driver’s License.
Working Conditions
Work is performed in an office setting with exposure to Visual/Video Display Terminal (VDT) and extensive personal computer and phone usage. Some sitting, standing, bending and reaching may be required. Some occasional travel is required for meetings and conferences.
