Qualifications:
• A bachelor’s degree and at least three (3) years of experience leading complex process improvement and business transformation projects/initiatives;
• Prior relevant work experience in a legal, government, non-profit or regulatory setting;
• Prior experience in a business analysis, grants and contract management or compliance role, ideally in a legal environment, is preferred;
• Ability to readily learn and understand new subject matter and business processes, particularly information from legal, financial and business documents/sources and synthesizing this into measurable/trackable data points;
• Success at driving projects and providing stakeholders with effective internal consulting services, including a basic knowledge of project management, business analysis and change management practices and methodologies;
• Demonstrated analytical abilities, excellent oral, written and presentation communication skills to communicate technical information to non-technical audiences;
• Highly collaborative with strong relationship management skills and experience contributing to and working on a project team or committee;
• Organized and proactive with the ability to self-manage competing priorities and tight deadlines; and
• Strong technology skills, proficiency in MS Office applications and the willingness to learn and use new technologies platforms as needed.
Duties Description The Office of the New York State Attorney General (OAG) is seeking talented applicants who are committed to public service for a new Compliance Analyst position in the Executive Division. The Compliance Analyst will collaborate with staff across the agency to design, implement and manage a system for tracking compliance with settlements and court orders. This is an opportunity for a highly organized and creative thinker to build out a new system to amplify the impact of the OAG’s enforcement actions. The Compliance Analyst will be exposed to the range of matters handled by the OAG and partner closely with IT, Budget and Operations teams. This position will report to the Managing Director for the Office of the First Deputy Attorney General and be located at the New York City office.
The responsibilities of the Compliance Analyst will include, but are not limited to, the following:
• Monitor compliance with affirmative relief on an ongoing basis, including tracking payment data; receiving annual certifications; reviewing reports from monitors and other agencies; reviewing submitted compliance packets; researching industry participation, other compliance programs and changes in policies and practices; selecting and performing audits on settlements; and analyzing and synthesizing program data to create meaningful, concise reports to inform and support enforcement actions;
• Become familiar with the work of the different affirmative legal bureaus and the types of relief secured across the agency, including monetary penalties, fees and restitution;
• Participate in cross-divisional strategic planning sessions to identify problems and solutions to support data collection, data integrity and the regular reporting of affirmative relief metrics and other compliance KPIs;
• Collaborate closely with the OAG’s legal leadership, IT and Business Services, as well as independent monitors and other state agencies, to design, build and deliver reporting systems and technology solutions that will enable effective compliance tracking, status evaluation and management of monetary and non-monetary relief;
• Effectively communicate with key stakeholders and drive projects forward, while also ensuring their engagement, support and accountability for deliverables;
• Design and conduct agencywide trainings for the tracking system; and
• Participate in additional projects and initiatives as assigned.
Additional Comments The annual salary range for this position is $64,393 – $80,844 + $3,087 in location pay. The final salary will be determined after a complete evaluation of the selected candidate’s qualifications.
