Job Description
Pay Grade: L
Under general supervision, may plan, organize or coordinate the activities of an assigned program. Reviews, monitors and ensures compliance with assigned program area’s policies and procedures.
This position reports to the Chief Investigator. The person in this position may provide peer support to, and direct the work of, other staff within the same unit. The person in this position is responsible for internal investigations of DHS employee/contractor misconduct, to include violations of federal and state laws as well as departmental rules, regulations and policies and investigations of allegations involving fraud, waste and abuse within the agency.
Roles and Responsibilities
- Coordinates pre-investigative, investigative and post-investigative efforts with internal administration, prosecutors and state and federal agencies.
- Organizes and evaluates data from various sources, utilizing research methods, interview skills and proficiency in the use of technology to compile clear and concise investigative reports, according to established procedures.
- Investigates alleged or suspected violations of federal, state or local laws, rules and regulations to determine if evidence is sufficient to recommend prosecution.
- Manages a caseload.
- Provides expert testimony in administrative hearings and in criminal court.
- Works closely with and provides training to other team members or other employees of DHS.
- Performs other professional responsibilities as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications
- Master’s degree in a related field from an accredited college or university.
OR
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field from an accredited college or university AND Two (2) years of related experience.
OR
- Associate’s degree in a related field from an accredited college or university AND Three (3) years of related experience.
OR
- Four (4) years of related professional experience.

Preferred Skills/Qualifications: Preference will be given to candidates who, in addition to meeting the minimum qualifications, demonstrate some or all the following education/skills/experience:
- Five (5) years full-time professional investigative experience with a state, federal or local governmental entity.
- Proven Experience with reviewing and interpreting policy, rules, or regulations to arrive at a determination based on investigative findings measured against the requirements identified in policies, rules, or regulations as they may apply.
- Proven experience with Human Resources issues such as Employee Misconduct, Sexual Harassment, and related Employee Relations issues.
