SPECIAL NOTES:
A Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, or related field is required OR a combination of college coursework and experience as described above may also be interchanged. Professional work experience can qualify on a year-by-year basis in place of the required education. College coursework will be considered the equivalent of experience at the rate of thirty (30) semester or forty-five (45) quarter hours on a year for year basis.
Preference:
- Master’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, or related field.
Additional requirements:
- Eight (8) years of experience in technical leader role focused on Desktop Support in a variety of computer operating systems applications and hardware.
- Experience and insight of Microsoft Office and various other types of software, customizing desktop applications, installing computer applications and peripherals, and recording technical issues.
- Ability to strategically plan by performing market research and opinion polling for making recommendations to the department on how to improve desktop and IT support services.
- Ability to perform detailed data reporting analytics and transform data into information to assist the department in business decisions.
- Ability to prepare, review, track, and report on Key Performance Indicators (KPIs), and established Service Level Expectations (SLEs).
- Must be proficient in the English language.
Additional preference:
- Professional experience with administrating specialized virtual desktop infrastructure (VDI) environments.
This position may be required to occasionally perform duties other than those listed on the position description.
The salary range for this position is $ 95,000.00 to $115,000.00 per year.
Employees of the Department of Financial Services are paid on a monthly pay cycle.

This position requires the incumbent to be Criminal Justice Agency (CJA) approved for access to Criminal Justice Information (CJI). The incumbent will adhere to the Florida Department of Financial Services, Administrative Policies and Procedures 4-01, CJIS Management Directive and Local Security Policy.

Minimum Qualifications for this position include the following REQUIRED ENTRY LEVEL KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
- Proven ability in IT Infrastructure services (Network, Compute, and Security) in delivery and/or architecture and engineering and/or Operations domains.
- Ability to understand local and wide area networks and topologies, compute and storage technologies, voice and video communications platforms, end-user device technologies, as well as collaboration/sharing platforms.
- Proven ability to manage large scale infrastructure refreshes, consolidating, and modernizing technology footprints, cloud integration and migration, and network traffic/capacity optimization.
- Ability to lead multiple internal and vendor teams effectively, manage deliverables and outcomes through multiple managed service providers.
- Ability to understand IT project budget management, planning and forecasting.
- Skills exhibiting strong organizational, leadership, analytical, and project management skills.
- Ability developing teams and mentoring and retaining staff.
- Ability to direct a team in problem resolution and implementation of corrective action.

BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES:
This highly responsible position serves as the Deputy Director of IT Infrastructure Services for the Department of Financial Services. This position supervises employees to include communicating with, motivating, training, and evaluating employees. As needed, this position is required to plan and direct employees’ work and must recommend actions such as to hire, transfer, suspend, lay off, recall, promote, discharge, assign, reward, or discipline subordinate employees.
This position is responsible for ensuring the effective delivery of Information Technology (IT) Infrastructure Services in support of the Department of Financial Services (DFS) divisions.
This includes:
- Managing successful outcomes of engagements for IT infrastructure services (Help Desk, End-User Support, and Desktop) delivery with DFS strategic business relationship managers and other stakeholders within the Director of Information’s System teams with the goal of modernizing and refreshing DFS infrastructure assets.
- Directing the IT Infrastructure services and staff.
- Monitoring and reporting IT infrastructure services performance.
- Implementing policy, procedures, and standards to improve the quality and efficiency of the IT infrastructure services.
- Identifying and driving IT infrastructure program service improvement plans.
- Working as a liaison between IT staff and business relationship managers to articulate and translate business requirements and corresponding technology solutions and drive alignment across stakeholders.
- Designing technical solutions based on best practice and within departmental policy.
- Ensuring that solutions deployed are consistent with IT Architecture and engineering standards for Help Desk, End-User Support, and Desktop.
- Being accountable for end-to-end IT infrastructure services project delivery.
- Managing project communications, risks, and issues proactively.
- Preparing, reviewing, tracking, and reporting on projects Key Performance Indicators (KPIs), and established Service Level Expectations (SLEs).
- Determines budgetary requirements for OIT Infrastructure systems.
- Develops, administers, and interprets organizational goals, policies, and procedures
