Vice President, Chief of Staff – Human Resources

Job Description

We are seeking a Vice President, Chief of Staff to directly support the Chief Human Resources Officer (CHRO) to ensure effective management of all accountabilities within the CHRO office and across the broader global HR function. You will be responsible for managing strategic human capital agendas, leading the development of critical materials/presentations and communications, and regularly interacting with HR Leadership Team peers, HR colleagues, Office of the Chairman & CEO, Executive Leadership Team members, and other partners across the organization. You will participate as a member of the Human Resource Leadership Team, reporting to the Executive Vice President of Human Resources.

New York Residents Only: The estimated base salary for this role is $170,000 – $250,000/ year. Base salaries are determined in part based on job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and geographical work location. In addition, most of our roles are eligible for variable pay in the form of bonus, commissions, and/or long-term incentives depending on the role. Responsibilities

  • Lead the operations of the CHRO office to ensure effective delivery and implementation of key initiatives. Assist with prioritizing efforts to ensure focus on the areas that will have the highest impact. Partner with HR leadership team and other colleagues within HR and across the enterprise to drive critical human capital strategies forward. Participate in a wide range of initiatives and play a lead role in ensuring the HR function meets strategic business objectives as well as detailed cyclical/BAU work.
  • Partner with key stakeholders on the HR team and other cross-organizational functions to prepare meaningful and cohesive content/material and communications for the CHRO for various leadership meetings (i.e., CEO & ELT meetings, BOD offsites, regular Business Line Reviews, etc.). Own and drive the preparation of agendas and materials for HR department meetings (i.e., Town Halls, Team Huddles, etc.) and coordinate with various presenters/stakeholders as needed.
  • Maintain a solid understanding of industry best practices. Proactively conduct research as well as manage relationships with external consulting firms we have engagements with and leverage relevant external market data and competitive analysis on current and emerging human capital trends as required. Partner with our human capital insights team in drafting of various HR documents. Share information with the HR leadership team and provide support on determining application to the company.
  • Oversee the budget for the overall HR function and work with key partners, including Finance, to identify and solve potential challenges and opportunities. Provide strategic direction for the HR Summer internship program. Adapt strategies to changing circumstances as required. Manage Real Estate needs for the HR department.
  • Ensure effective controls are in place to proactively manage risk and remain in compliance with company policies and procedures. Represent the company externally to build our talent brand and broaden pathways of opportunity into our company to ensure a robust and growing talent pool for our evolving needs.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.
  • 10+ years of relevant planning experience preferably supporting a business unit, including leading large cross-organizational projects from development to execution, preferably within an HR function.
  • Highly effective communication and relationship building skills with the ability to identify and resolve/mitigate issues or risks.
  • Proactive approach, ability to effectively adjust communication style and topics/content in real-time to meet the needs of all stakeholders based on where a discussion is headed; astute and perceptive.
  • Experience influencing at all levels of the organization; savvy, proven ability to drive results through others.
  • Proven ability to manage tight deadlines and frequently changing priorities.
  • Demonstrates an innovative, creative, and resourceful mindset.
  • Exceptional communication skills, able to create and develop communications and presentations, in partnership with corporate communications team as appropriate, ability to synthesize information and write for comprehension and understanding at all levels of the organization.
  • Experience with managing financial budgets.
  • Financial Service experience preferred.
