Overview
The Concessions Chef is responsible for all menu creation and training of preparing food to be served to guests throughout the Convention Centers Concessions operations. The Concessions Chef may often have direct contact with the public working in areas such as a buffet line slicing meats or preparing dishes to order. The Concessions Chef reports to the Executive Sous Chef.
The Concessions Chef must maintain excellent attendance and be available to work varied shifts as scheduled per business need including busy nights and weekends.
This role will pay a salary of $65,000 to $85,000.

McCormick Place located in downtown Chicago is the largest and most flexible convention center in North America., With over 2.6 million square feet of exhibition space, the campus proudly hosts some of the world’s largest and most prestigious conventions, meetings, and trade shows, welcoming approximately 3 million visitors to Chicago every year.
Responsibilities
- Responsible for providing high quality, fresh food products in a timely manner for delivery to guests.
- Oversees the food production for all concessions and retail locations.
- Prepares hot and cold foods following company recipes and portioning requirements.
- Participates as a team player with specific responsibilities related to preparation, excellent service and delivery of product.
- Responsible for reporting any maintenance required for kitchen equipment.
- Maintains sanitation, health and safety standards in work areas.
- Responsible for observing and testing foods to ensure proper cooking and quality.
- Responsible for portioning, arranging and garnishing food plates for delivery to guests.
- Responsible for consulting with Executive Sous Chef to plan menus and estimate expected food consumption.
- Must show demonstrated ability to meet the company standard for excellent attendance.
Qualifications
- Minimum of 3 years of related progressive experience as a culinary graduate and/or at least 1 year of experience in kitchen preparation and cooking in a hotel restaurant/food/concessions outlet facility or related field helpful.
- 1+ years of supervising hourly staff
- Able to operate standard kitchen equipment including the broiler, steamer, convection oven, mixer, deep fryer and chef knife.
- Ability to communicate with employees, co-workers, volunteers, management staff and guests in a clear, business-like and respectful manner which focuses on generating a positive, enthusiastic and cooperative work environment.
- Ability to speak, read and write in English.
- Ability to work well in a team-oriented, fast-paced, event-driven environment.
- Possess valid food handling certificate if required by state and federal regulations.
- Professional training through culinary education or working in a fast-paced fine dining restaurant/catering facility required.
