The Condition Assessment Practice Lead will provide leadership to HDR ‘ s Northern California practice of condition assessment and system rehabilitation through building a resource network of HDR experts and trusted, specialized contractors to serve a variety of public and private water, wastewater and stormwater clients. This person will be responsible for:

  • Providing technical support and leadership in the delivery of condition assessment and rehabilitation projects and programs
  • Coordinating, monitoring and improving technical competence of a variety of engineering, condition assessment and asset management staff to meet client needs and identify and anticipate market drivers.
  • Functioning as Project Manager on project assignments within the subject matter area
  • Will support the development and delivery of program management activities.
  • Working directly on projects from large linear programs and facility-wide assessments to small condition assessment projects to provide state-of-the-art condition assessment and water asset management solutions for a variety of water and wastewater clients
  • Planning and leading condition assessment data collection, analysis and reporting.
  • Participating in technical practice and professional discipline groups, project teams and activities to continually improve standards and best practices. Maintaining industry involvement to understand market changes in the development and delivery of emerging technologies and industry developments relevant to the area of subject matter expertise.
  • Participating in strategic planning, budgeting and plan implementation.
  • Supporting construction and project start-up activities.
  • Strong technical writing skills.
  • Supporting business development, marketing and project pursuit activities, including maintaining strong client relationships and identifying future program and project opportunities that bring value to our clients
  • Taking lead responsibility for project and program deliverable development and preparation, with support from project staff
  • Participating in HDR’s quality review process to ensure projects within the business class are delivered with the highest quality
  • Seeing that all work is planned, organized, controlled and evaluated through proactive project management system
  • Selecting, training, developing and manage technical personnel
  • Work cooperatively with National Directors and marketing staff in local and national marketing and production efforts
  • Perform other duties as needed.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or technical sciences field
  • Maintains a professional or engineering registration and has related technical experience
  • Experienced in development and management of diverse teams
  • Minimum 10 years experience in related field
  • Strong communication and listening skills
  • Capable of building collaborative, multidisciplinary cross-functional teams to achieve Water Business Group goals
  • Ability to handle multiple assignments
  • Good leadership and organizational skills
  • An attitude and commitment to being an active participant of our employee-owned culture is a must

Preferred Qualifications

  • In depth knowledge of state-of-the-art practices to proactively manage both linear infrastructure and treatment facilities.
  • Understanding of various methods and technologies to perform condition assessment of various infrastructure. An understanding of the limitations of such techniques is desired.
  • Ability to evaluate condition assessment findings, understand failure modes of water and wastewater infrastructure and make risk-based recommendations on measures to improve infrastructure reliability
  • Ability to develop and train project engineers and other technical professionals on pressure pipe management.

The expected compensation range for this position is $140,000 – $191,000 annually depending upon skills, experience, education and geographical location.
