Primary Responsibilities

HDR is seeking qualified applicants for a Condition Assessment Project Manager for projects in the Southern California Area. This position is in HDR’s Southern California Region, with flexibility in office location: Irvine, Los Angeles or San Diego.

The primary duties of the Project Manager include planning, directing, and monitoring all aspects of medium or large multi-disciplinary water/wastewater pipeline, reservoir, pump station and infrastructure assessment projects with varying degrees of technical complexity. More specifically the Project Manager will be expected to lead project teams of engineers and technical professionals to plan and execute assessment for water/wastewater projects and related systems and develop capital improvement or operations recommendations based on assessment. These responsibilities include establishing project teams; establishing project schedules and responsibility assignments; developing project criteria and methods; preparing assessment budgets, assessment work plans, and other reports; overseeing the production of budgets, plans, and reports; developing and executing QA/QC plans for each project; and working directly with the owner to ensure that the project meets or exceeds the owners expectation. The Project Manager will also be responsible for mentoring technical staff and training other engineering personnel. The Senior Project Manager may also assist in the marketing and management of water/wastewater projects and clients.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • BS or MS Engineering required, preferably Civil, Chemical, or Mechanical
  • Project management experience in a consulting firm.
  • 7 years of experience in municipal and/or industrial water/wastewater treatment systems.
  • Proven project leadership, project management (staffing schedule and budget), and mentoring skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Broad knowledge of water/wastewater assessment technologies, approaches for assessment implementation and assessment planning.
  • Experience with CAD and GIS.
  • Candidates should be proficient using project control systems, problem solving, management and client relations.
  • Strong written and interpersonal communication skills, including team leadership, presentations, proposals, and managing client interactions.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • Strong business development and strategic planning skills.
  • Excellent team player with ability to function effectively in a variety of roles on integrated project teams.
  • An attitude and commitment to being an active participant of our employee-owned culture is a must.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in Civil/Environmental Engineering.
  • PE licensure in the State of California or ability to obtain PE licensure within 6 months of hire. PE licensure in other states that the firm is actively practicing may also be considered.
  • This position may require out-of-office travel with occasional evening and overnight assignments;
  • Maintaining professional competency may require attending education classes and seminars, reading professional publications, and attending professional society meetings.

The expected compensation range for this position is $111,881 – $167,095 annually depending upon skills, experience, education and geographical location.
