The Opportunity
As the Conferences and Events Lead,you will manage execution of a robust strategy to expand Abt’s reputational positioning through in-person, virtual and hybrid external events, synced to our growth priorities. Responsibilities include overseeing marketing, logistics, and promotional efforts, while also collaborating with teams across Marketing and Communications, Business Development, and technical accounts/research portfolios to raise the visibility of Abt’s capabilities and experts.
Core Responsibilities
- Lead rollout and management of Abt’s corporate conference strategy, including promotion and marketing tactics, sponsorship, and exhibit development, aligning all events to corporate business priorities and objectives.
- Lead conference planning meetings and debriefs with all relevant stakeholders, tracking deliverables from inception to completion and keeping teams informed of upcoming deadlines.
- Research and pitch innovative and interactive tools to be used at Abt events and tradeshows (e.g., apps, interactive games, giveaways)
- In collaboration with relevant colleagues, lead messaging development, design and collateral creation for conferences and events (e.g., ads, booth exhibits, giveaways, banners, brochures)
- Coordinate promotion via social media, web, eblasts, and video, including writing content for landing pages and email marketing.
- Provide administrative and logistics support for virtual, hybrid, and in-person conferences. When virtual, this includes compiling digital assets (e.g., brochures, images, other content) to include in the virtual conference platform. For onsite tradeshows, this includes ordering show services and engaging with conference reps.
- Host “brand ambassador” pre-conference training for Abt staff attending and/or exhibiting at priority conferences to provide guidance and best practices for a successful conference experience, including but not limited to social media participation, virtual platforms, and business development expectations.
- Compile summary reports of conference presence including performance metrics to measure ROI (engagement rate across digital channels, in-person, and pre-and-post event communications). Communicate follow-up actions and recommendations to appropriate Business Development reps and Division/Account Leads
- Develop and track budgets for conferences and events.
- Coordinate with accounting and purchasing departments on invoices and purchase orders, and compile budget recaps for priority conferences.
- Represent Abt at key priority conferences (typically 3-5 a year)
What We Value
- Bachelor’s Degree + Twelve years of relevant experience, or Master’s Degree + Ten years of relevant experience, or PhD+ Eight years of relevant experience
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills
- Able to multitask, meet deadlines, have excellent organizational skills and work collaboratively with employees at all levels of the organization.
- Demonstrated mastery of project management, including leading meetings with diverse stakeholders, providing clear direction and action steps to maximize time and resources.
- Agile learner who can quickly and clearly communicate key messages tied to business goals and objectives to internal and external stakeholders.
- Thorough understanding of-and experience working with-available communications channels and tools, from web to social to events, using video, audio, social media and print
- Demonstrated ability for accuracy and thoroughness.
- Experience with workflow management tools
- Ability for some travel (3-5 conferences/year)

This position offers an anticipated annual base salary range of approximately $79,485.87 to $127,177.40, and may vary by ten percent depending on candidate geographic location. Salary offers are made based on internal equity and market analysis.
