Configuration Management Specialist Associate / Configuration Management Specialist I

Evaluate, plan and implement configuration management and data management control solutions based upon federal, procuring agency, and international statutes and standards including planning, item identification, managing changes, status accounting, engineering configuration verification and audit, and flowing those requirements to suppliers. Assess and establish key components of the digital thread and associated tools, managing engineering and program data across tool platforms assuring that data generated internally and by suppliers is managed in accordance with contractual format and schedule requirements.

What You’ll Do:

  • Analyze and interpret contractual requirements contained in the terms and conditions and contract attachments. Assure Configuration and Data Management (C&DM) Planning meets contractual requirements and includes item identification, configuration change management/ control, configuration status accounting, configuration verification and audit and that decisions are fully documented in the C&DM Plan and flowed to suppliers where applicable.
  • Review engineering design data for document completeness.
  • Data input for configuration management documents into Product Data Management (PDM) systems for appropriate project baseline.
  • Track and report C&DM status for department.
  • Track and report C&DM performance on past due C&DM milestones.
  • Implement configuration management flow, approvals, and processes across program on standalone networks.
  • Maintain engineering configuration management data and documentation for review and approval.
  • Develop and expand configuration management system.
  • Support project purchase requisitions based on engineering design data in PDM system.
  • Pro-actively manage engineering data across all platforms assuring that data generated internally and by suppliers has been reviewed, approved and is delivered in accordance with contractual format and schedule requirements, including management and tracking of Contract and Subcontract Data Requirements lists (CDRLS/SDRLS).
  • Manage Configuration Control Boards (CCBs), Engineering Review Boards (ERBs), Interface Control Working Groups (ICWGs) and other engineering boards as required.
  • Audit engineering change orders (ECOs), Engineering Change Requests (ECR) and design data for completeness and adherence to contractual and internal requirements; coordinating changes across affected systems while considering system and design impacts and disposition of existing design configurations.
  • Manage internally generated and supplier generated configuration and engineering data in electronic systems, ensure maintenance of digital thread, provide status accounting reports and compile data for end-item product delivery.
  • Co-chair or support physical configuration audits (PCAs) and provide engineering liaison support for functional configuration audits (FCAs). Support other external and internal audits as necessary.
  • Establish, gather and evaluate metrics to assure efficient execution and continuous process improvement within the program.
  • Interface directly with internal and external customer/vendor program management staff and engineering IPTs and provide point in time and/or general training.
  • Work closely with other disciplines to ensure proper coordination of data across systems and functions.
  • Assist with new hire onboarding training regarding tools and processes key to the configuration management of the digital thread.
  • Perform additional engineering support tasks for all phases, systems, programs and or products; from less complicated, single focus activities to extremely complex and highly diverse activities in support of Ball engineering initiatives or contractual Task Orders
  • Maintain a regular and predictable work schedule.
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships within the department, the Strategic Business Units, Strategic Capabilities Units and the Company. Interact appropriately with others in order to maintain a positive and productive work environment.
  • Perform other duties as necessary.

What You’ll Need:

  • Configuration Management Specialist Associate -BS/BA in a related field.
  • Configuration Management Specialist I -BS/BA in a related field plus 2 or more years related experience.
  • Each higher-level degree, i.e., Master’s Degree or Ph.D., may substitute for two years of experience. Related technical experience may be considered in lieu of education. Degree must be from a university, college, or school which is accredited by an agency recognized by the US Secretary of Education, US Department of Education.

On-Site Work Environment: This position requires regular in-person engagement by working on-site five days each normally scheduled week in the primary work location. Travel and local commute between Ball campuses and other possible non-Ball locations may be required.

Compensation & Benefits:

  • HIRING SALARY RANGE FOR CONFIGURATION MANAGEMENT SPECIALIST ASSOCIATE: $51,000 – $70,500 (Salary to be determined by the education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities of the applicant, internal equity, and alignment with market data.)
  • HIRING SALARY RANGE FOR CONFIGURATION MANAGEMENT SPECIALIST I: $63,000 – $84,000 (Salary to be determined by the education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities of the applicant, internal equity, and alignment with market data.)
