Construction Contract Specialist- Temporary Assignment

POSITION SUMMARY

This position is responsible for providing support to the Legal department with contract and legal issues relating to construction, leases and purchasing. This is a temporary assignment, it is not a permanent opportunity.

What you’ll do:

  • Reviews and redlines and assists with negotiating construction contracts, change orders, releases, engagement letters, service agreements, lease and purchase agreements and other types of commercial agreements to ensure consistency with the company’s protocols, best practices and Approval Authority Matrix.
  • Reviews and updates standard contract templates while identifying terms or clauses in agreements that represent potential compliance, liability or other risks to the Company.
  • Reviews correspondence concerning contracts and responds as necessary within approved scope of responsibility.

What you bring to the table:

  • Bachelor’s degree and/or paralegal certificate required
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience, preferably in an in-house or other legal environment
  • Experience specifically with construction contracts strongly preferred
  • Familiarity with the contracting process, including demonstrated writing skills and experience in reviewing and interpreting contracts and identifying the parties’ contractual obligations
  • Ability to read and interpret technical documentation and confirm the presence of required terms and conditions, as well as identify potentially problematic areas
  • Excellent analytical, verbal and written communication skills and ability to manage multiple priorities
  • Excellent attention to detail, follow-up and organizational skills
  • Ability to communicate effectively at all levels, both internally and externally
  • Excellent negotiation skills

Pay: Final pay is determined by the education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities of the applicant, internal equity, and alignment with market data. For California this ranges from $40.00-$50.00/hour.
