We are currently hiring a Construction Coordinator – Engineering!
As an Engineering Construction Coordinator, you plan and implement requirements with internal customers and usher projects through the entire life cycle. This includes coordinating project schedules, identifying risks, and clearly communicating goals to project stakeholders. Your projects often span offices or time zones, and it’s your job to keep all the players coordinated on the project’s progress and deadlines.
You will be responsible for efficiently coordinating our engineering vendors to produce high-quality, highly constructible engineering deliverables. Adaptability and the ability to thrive in ambiguity are critical to success in this role.
Responsibilities:
- Develop new initiatives proactively for network design process improvements and work cross-functionally to decide priorities.
- Drive programs across product areas and show leadership and influence across teams.
- Manage the engineering design process flow to accelerate Fiber to the Premises (FTTP) designs, including highly constructible job packages through final as-built completion.
- Manage engineering vendor workload and production to achieve critical milestones.
- Develop and maintain a high quality control standard for the design process, including prompt troubleshooting and creative problem-solving for any equipment and/or design issues identified. Manage the production of efficient designs for new development, network relocations, and network upgrades.
- Provide practical and comprehensive support of network deployment and other cross-functional teams.
- Communicate quality issues with the engineers and field engineers to find resolutions.
- Approve designs before submission to our client.
- Manage and enforce engineering quality and compliance with outside plant design specifications.
- Accurately depict new construction route opportunities, with the ability to identify, research, and problem-solve cable path/placement issues and accurately relay solutions to the engineering team.
- QA/QC of the following aspects of both MDU and OSP designs, including identifying issues, researching possible solutions, making corrective proposals, and tracking updates to project’s end.
- Bill of Materials (BOM)
- Splice Sheets (SS)
- Fiber Construction Drawings
- Permit Drawings (If needed)
Minimum qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in a technical field or equivalent practical experience.
- Five years of experience with FTTP infrastructure.
- Experience in the construction of new outside and inside plant (OSP/ISP) fiber infrastructure.
Preferred qualifications:
- Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
- Proficiency in Google G-Suite, including drive, docs, sheets, drawing, and presentation.
- Intermediate skills in Microsoft Office programs, including Excel.
- Intermediate working knowledge of Google Earth/Maps.
- Exemplary communication skills with excellent presentation skills.
- Ability to represent projects from business, product, and technical perspectives.
- Excellent time management.
- Experience in Geographic Information Systems (GIS), 3-GIS, and AutoCAD drafting capabilities.
- Comprehensive knowledge of Fiber Optic network equipment, various OSP architectures,
splice operations, configuration, and overall system design.
- Knowledge of BOM creation, including material research for different markets and OSP architectures.
- Knowledge of Splice Sheet creation and an ability to identify Splice Sheet issues that originate in various stages of design.
- Ability to review Fiber Construction Drawings for various architectures.
- Ability to help track PON assignments within the CO/Hut/Headend Equipment
- Knowledge of ROW/easements for various municipalities and experience with local city
utility permitting.
