The Site Manager monitors, coordinates and facilitates construction of the assigned ENGIE project related to new energy transition assets including Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) and Renewable Hydrogen (hydrogen production by electrolysis with renewable energy) production facilities. Their primary responsibility is to represent ENGIE on site during construction and assure that construction activities are safe, comply with permits and contracts, and are well coordinated and documented. The Site Manager is expected to be knowledgeable of, and capable of, interpreting the project’s various construction contracts, permits, and other governing documents, and ensuring that they are being properly implemented on site. The Site Manager enforces the construction plan and contract requirements on site. In addition, the Site Manager actively participates in the required safety and security activities required by the approved plans, reports progress, assists in projecting construction completion, assists in the control and approval of work scope changes, and works cooperatively with the project and contractor teams to resolve issues. The Site Manager organizes, directs, and monitors the activities of HSE experts, the assigned HSE Manager and Observers, as well as the Field Observers, participating in the QA/QC activities on site.

This position will sit in Houston, TX and will report to the assigned project manager for the project. This position is open to a hybrid scheduled of both in-office and work-from-home days. This role requires that this role be on-site nearly 100% of the time during construction activities.

What you’ll have:

  • Works collaboratively with Contractor and Subcontractor management teams to ensure on-site construction safety, security, environmental and communication requirements within the Project’s EPC and other contracts are met
  • Manages ENGIE’s on-site team including HSE personnel, Quality Observers, and other service providers
  • Monitors quality assurance activities, conducts team meetings and ensures all check points for construction activities and deliverables are met based on the permits, contracts and project plans
  • Oversees onsite procurement complying with the Project Management Plan and company policy
  • Actively participates in the HSE program for the construction project
  • Reviews and approves all construction invoices and expenses, ensuring that all activities are conducted and invoiced in compliance with contract requirements, with the assistance of the Contract Manager. Ensures that all payments are processed in a timely manner with proper cost account coding
  • Prepares construction safety and physical progress measurement KPI’s using the project plan, WBS construction activities, and baseline schedule to provide a quantitative means to report physical progress
  • Measures construction performance using KPI’s, to identify variances and take corrective action to achieve the construction objectives in coordination with the Project Manager and the Contracts Manager
  • Represents the Company as the individual with primary jurisdiction over construction contractors, subcontractors and suppliers while they are on site. Reviews and signs-off on all construction supplier contract Change Orders, Notices and Approvals
  • Evaluates and quantifies construction risks using risk analysis techniques in order to plan actions to mitigate risks by changing activities in coordination with the Project Manager and the Contracts Manager
  • Maintains a daily log of conditions and activities onsite, including weather, manpower, safety, and quality statistics
  • Prepares weekly construction progress reports summarizing the activities for the week, physical progress, safety and regulatory compliance
  • Advises project teams on construction planning
  • Prepares construction management plans in coordination with the Project Manager
  • Assembles documents including construction quality records, commissioning turnover books, safety records, environmental records and as-built information into a handover package for the Operations & Maintenance team
  • Assists the Contract Manager and the Project Manager with the closing of all supplier contracts associated with the facility construction
  • Assists the Project Manager and project team with the preparation of a final Lessons Learned report

What you’ll bring:

  • A minimum of a four (4) year degree with a focus in a related technical discipline, preferably mechanical, electrical, or civil engineering and/or construction science
  • A minimum seven (7) years of progressively responsible experience in construction management
  • A minimun ten (10) years of total working experience
  • Strong Interpersonal skills with a proven ability to manage construction activities, contractors, subcontractors, and stakeholders
  • A strong commitment to safety
  • The ability to be flexible and adjust to changing project conditions, develop and present alternative solutions to problems, and recommend a course of action to maintain project scope, schedule, and budget
  • A strong attention to detail and documentation as evidenced by daily logs, KPI tracking, periodic reporting, and other standard construction management activities
  • The ability to relocate from project to project and be on site daily at the assigned project for several weeks or months at a time. Project locations are expected to be within the continental US, primarily Texas, the Midwest, and Mid-Atlantic States
  • An excellent working knowledge of Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Procore
  • An ability to exhibit flexibility which may require late night and/or weekend attention and/or short notice travel to address project related issues

  • Ability to communicate effectively, both written and verbally
  • Ability to handle multiple assignments on a timely basis with a high degree of accuracy
  • Ability to use personal computer, calculator, etc
  • Could involve some lifting

  • Ability to communicate effectively
  • A Professional Engineer license is strongly preferred
  • Able to travel for several days at a time and spend up to 50% of their time at project locations remote from the base work location

  • Actual salary offered may vary depending on geography, experience, education, internal pay alignment, or other bona fide factors
