Construction Manager -Healthcare Buildings

We’re looking for an experienced and collaborative Construction Project Manager who thrives when people are in sync and projects are running not just on time but within budget. Based in our San Diego, CA office, reporting directly to the Program Manager and working alongside other project managers, you’ll be responsible not only for the overall project delivery, but also for the management of the project development from conception through completion in accordance with program objectives. You’ll manage and provide construction oversight to Operating Accounts Receivables (OAR) and resolve complex construction project related issues and disagreements.

As the onsite Owners Representative, you’ll be responsible for ensuring not only the progress and technical performance of a project:

Essential Functions:

  • Assist in developing the project budget and construction schedule before and during project construction.
  • Reviews construction status with the Project Superintendent.
  • Meet with architect and engineering team to review plans, clarify construction details, and recommend solutions to obtain a quality project.
  • Assembling a list of subcontractors, pre-qualifying the subcontractors for experience and financial stability and to schedule maintenance.
  • Ensures that status reports are prepared, payment requests processed, and the overall construction timeline maintained.
  • Ensures as-built plans, Operations and Maintenance Manuals and all contract requirements are complete.
  • Ensures construction progress is on schedule, construction costs are within budgets, subcontractors are performing within the solicitation requirements, and interim life safety measures and hospital regulations and requirements are incorporated into the work.
  • Knowledge is especially valuable during construction as site conditions arise, providing solutions that save time and construction expense.
  • Meet regularly with contractors’ project superintendent and assist in the oversite of project construction and ensuring that schedules are maintained.
  • Review update construction schedule by contractor, provide coordination with the Inspector of Record, and conducts project inspections with OSHPD, State and Licensing Personnel.
  • Coordination of the closeout of the project.

  • Bachelor of Science in an Engineering, Construction or related discipline OR equivalent on the job training
  • 5+ years of experience as a Project Manager in an Engineering or Construction organization
  • Strong working knowledge of pre-design and pre-construction, building systems/components and technology, contract management, project delivery methods, team building and client relationship building.

Ideally, You’ll Also Have:

  • Certified Construction Manager (CCM), CM-Lean, DBIA Professional, Professional Engineer (PE) or Architect license/certification
  • Prior HCAI (OSHPD) project experience

Typical salary range for this position is $113,000 – $177,000 and is commensurate with experience relative to the position.
