Construction Safety Technician
Our client is looking for entry level candidates that would like to get into the construction safety field.
Job Overview:
The Construction Safety technician is responsible for ensuring that all construction activities are carried out safely and in compliance with relevant laws, regulations, and company policies. The Construction Safety Officer reports directly to the Site Safety Manager and works closely with other members of the construction team to identify potential hazards, develop safety plans, and monitor work activities.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct regular site inspections to identify potential hazards and ensure that all construction activities are being carried out safely and in accordance with relevant regulations and company policies.
- Develop and implement safety plans for all construction activities, including but not limited to excavation, scaffolding, and electrical work.
- Provide safety training and guidance to construction workers and subcontractors to promote a culture of safety on the job site.
- Investigate accidents and incidents to identify the root cause and recommend corrective actions to prevent reoccurrence.
- Maintain accurate records of all safety-related incidents, including near-misses and injuries, and report findings to the Site Safety Manager.
- Conduct regular safety meetings with the construction team to review safety performance, discuss potential hazards, and develop action plans to mitigate risks.
- Ensure that all safety equipment is properly maintained and in good working order, including personal protective equipment, fall protection systems, and fire suppression equipment.
- Monitor the work of subcontractors to ensure that they are in compliance with safety regulations and company policies.
- Stay up-to-date with changes in safety regulations and industry best practices to ensure that the construction team is always working in accordance with current standards.
Qualifications:
- Entry Level- No Experience required.
- Excellent communication skills, including the ability to communicate complex safety concepts to non-technical personnel.
- Strong organizational skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines.
- Attention to detail, with a focus on identifying potential hazards and developing effective safety plans.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with a strong focus on collaboration and communication.
Physical Demands:
The Construction Safety Officer must be able to navigate a construction site, including climbing ladders and scaffolding, and may be required to lift heavy objects up to 50 pounds. The position may also require working in inclement weather conditions.
