This job contributes to Starbucks success by facilitating the planning, establishment, execution, and evaluation of complex, multi-year, multifaceted programs. This role supports the Continuous Improvement team to transform business divisions across Starbucks Coffee Company utilizing standard organizational development and process improvement tools, as well as reaching across methodologies to devise a best-fit engagement for internal Starbucks teams. They serve as a trusted advisor to client organizations, including maintaining a collaborative working relationship with leaders and providing expert guidance in the understanding and delivery of business transformation.

As a Continuous Improvement program manager, you will…

– Deeply understand the needs of business units, stakeholder groups, and sponsors by using active listening skills and facilitated activities such as Voice of Customer, Empathy Mapping, etc.

– Take an expert/consultative approach when working with business units to design an engagement strategy driven by understanding the business needs and desired outcomes

– Design and facilitate sessions to support leaders in building clearly articulated mission, vision, operating principles, and customer/partner listening strategies

– Work with leaders to develop solid business cases for transformation, including components such as program portfolio, strategic alignment, revenue and profit opportunities, enterprise impacts, milestones, risks, assumptions, constraints, etc.

– Utilize established tools and resources to help leaders think and work through each step of a business transformation program

– Manage portfolios of work to include project management, change management, program management, process improvement, and/or Human Centered Design related activities

– Work cross-functionally with stakeholder and support teams to ensure successful execution of work portfolio

– Approach transformation through a systems thinking lens, bringing in the right stakeholders and subject matter experts to explore program dependencies and success criteria

– Support alignment of all project team members working toward program goals

– Support development and refinement of program standards

– Support sponsors and stakeholders in navigating a dynamic environment; able to flex program in response to changing needs

– Take a collaborative approach to program management

– Serve as a thinking partner to colleagues, stakeholders, clients, and sponsors

– Be a change leader throughout the organization

We’d love to hear from people with:

– 8 yrs application of industry-based project management methodologies and tools.

– 8 yrs managing complex large-scale business or information technology projects.

– 8 yrs building and mentoring teams.

– 6 yrs mentoring other project managers in program and project management.

– 8 yrs general business experience in large, matrixed organizations.

Additional experience strongly preferred:

– 10 yrs application of industry-based continuous improvement, business transformation, organizational design, and/or change management methodologies and tools.

– 3 yrs managing a portfolio of projects.

– 8 yrs supporting internal business communication and coordination.

– 8 yrs requirements gathering and analysis.

– 8 yrs working with end-users to define workflows and integrate business processes and technology into effective business solutions.

– 6 years systems and process analysis, design and deployment.

– Bachelor’s degree.
