The Controls & Instrument Technician Opportunity
Veev is looking for an experienced Control & Instrument Technician to join our team and help us build and test the next generation of electrical assemblies. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of electrical assembly, soldering, bench testing, and programming Linux-based embedded systems.
What you’ll do at Veev
- Build and test cable assemblies, electro-mechanical assemblies, circuit card assemblies and electronic component assemblies according to engineering specifications.
- Build and bring-up prototypes involving electrical, mechanical, and Firmware/SW efforts. -Utilize new software testing infrastructure
- Soldering and assembly of electrical components.
- Perform bench testing of electrical assemblies to ensure functionality.
- Program Linux-based embedded systems.
- Responsible for setting up prototype devices to run software updates and regression tests
- Troubleshoot electrical assemblies and identify and correct defects.
- Collaborate with engineers, define and document test plan details
- Develop and maintain electrical assembly standards and procedures.
- Manage of laboratory spaces, inventory control, and component procurement.
- Participate in research and development projects.
Requirements, Knowledge, and Experience
- Associate’s degree, trade school certification, other certified training in related fields, or equivalent practical experience.
- 4+ years of relevant experience in electrical assembly, soldering, bench testing, and programming Linux.
- Excellent ability to perform hands-on assemblies and disassembly and make experimental modifications to intricate hardware
- Strong understanding of Mid/Low voltage electrical assembly principles and procedures.
- Proficient in soldering and assembly of electrical components.
- Experience in reading schematics and layout of multi-layer boards / flexes.
- Experience with bench testing of electrical assemblies.
- Experience with programming Linux-based embedded systems.
- Proficiency with common laboratory equipment such as hand solder instruments, DMMs, oscilloscopes, power supplies, network and spectrum analyzers, thermocouples, data loggers, and other equipment.
- Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Motivated, detail-oriented and results driven creative thinker
- Test Automation experience a plus
- Proficient in electrical assembly software (e.g., AutoCAD).
- Ability to lift/move 50lbs equipment, work on platforms, ladders, and under raised floors.
Compensation
Pursuant to state and local pay disclosure requirements, the hourly pay range for this role, with final offer amount dependent on skills, education, experience, and location is $45.00 – $50.00 per hour, for Hayward, CA and surrounding areas. This role is also eligible for stock options, various benefits, including medical/dental/vision, insurance, a 401(k) plan, and other benefits in accordance with applicable plan documents.
