Purpose: The Controls Design Engineer will guide the engineering, planning and standardization aspects of the control systems design processes, ensuring on-time and in-budget delivery. The ideal candidate will play a key role in the successful conceptualization, development and completion of custom automated solutions ranging in scale from $50k to $5million.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor, apply and enforce safety standards to maintain a safe working environment
  • Foster an inclusive and positive working environment by monitoring team performance, providing constructive direction and ensuring team member’s success.
  • Maintain, track and report on process steps throughout the project life cycle.
  • Drive innovation and growth through out of the box thinking, open mindedness and collaboration.
  • Work with project execution team on project scheduling, team member loading and workload forecasting.
  • Actively mentors other Controls Design Engineers.
  • Develop, maintain and ensure compliance with all Controls design standards.
  • Develop controls design packages(Electrical & Fluid Power) for the operations team that adhere to all internal and external standards(NEC, ANSII, OSHA)
  • Develop safety systems that meet the expectations of the corporate engineering team, adhering to internal and external standards.
  • Serve as subject matter expert for the controls design team.
  • Provide guidance and technical specifications to the software engineering, technical and field service teams throughout the design and assembly process.
  • Collaborate with the internal and external engineering teams on system concepts, budgeting and development.
  • Ensure ISO compliance is maintained throughout the engineering process.
  • Schedule tasks and processes to align with overall project schedules and system deliveries.
  • Drive continuous improvement by identifying opportunities throughout the design, development and build process and provide plans for correction.

Qualifications

  • 3-10 years of controls design experience.
  • Motivated, self-starter, with a willingness to teach and lead.
  • Skilled communicator with the ability to develop quality interpersonal relationships.
  • Must be detail oriented and organized.
  • Prior experience with system controls engineering.
  • Experience with 2D CAD; Eplan, AutoCad, etc.
  • Extensive knowledge of electrical controls design.
  • Extensive knowledge of all electrical code standards.
  • Reasoning, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work well in a goal oriented, team environment.
