Job Description
Dewberry is currently seeking a Controls Technician/ConstructionSite Supervisor for the DC or Los Angeles area.
This hybrid position will support our teams across the United States as they perform General Construction, Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing, and Control Systems work. This individual will act at times as the Site Supervisor directing the work in multiple trades with emphasis on mechanical, electrical, and plumbing trades as well as other general construction trades where needed for renovation and retrofit projects, and at other times they will focus on the control systems and getting that system programmed and commissioned. The expectation is that this role will spend a considerable amount of time in the field. The role will also support other positions over the phone or internet, be required to give clear direction, and be able to troubleshoot mechanical and control systems clearly and accurately from both on site and off site.

Responsibilities
- Skills related to mechanical and electrical systems should include a detailed knowledge of how common mechanical, electrical, and plumbing equipment is constructed and operated in buildings.
- Understanding of general construction practices and common means and methods for trades outside of MEP and Controls and ability to supervise the same.
- Must be able to read and construct by following blueprints for MEPS as well as general construction renovations and retrofits.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to manage construction sequencing and schedules and coordinate construction activities on site.
- Able to work effectively with a variety of subcontractors and trades, including those outside area of primary technical expertise.
- Write daily, safety, and quality related reports effectively.
- Diagnosing malfunctioning systems, apparatus, and components, using test equipment and hand tools, to locate the cause of a breakdown and correct the problem.
- Inspecting installation sites and studying work orders, building plans, and installation manuals in order to determine materials requirements and installation procedures.
- Reading contract drawings.
- Works from blueprints, drawings, layouts, or other specifications, locating and diagnosing trouble in the system or equipment.
- Ability to lead team, provide direction to keep project on time, with quality.
- Maintain safety of personnel and equipment with a zero-accident mindset.
- Maintain positive relationship with end client, managers, peers, subcontractors, and vendors.
- Proficient in installing and mounting electronic controls, device, panels, sensors, and components, including ability to perform interlock wiring as required.
- Expertise in testing control systems and sequences of operation using testing devices and procedures while documenting the results.
- Knowledge of a variety of systems is needed, with preference for Niagara, JCI, Distech, Lynxspring, Honeywell, and Siemens.
- Knowledge of computer networking specifically in the OT environment.
- Ability to configure remote connections to systems.
- Basic cybersecurity skills are required, especially the ability to follow hardening guides and document compliance.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain all background, security, and clearances required to perform the duties of this position

Working Conditions
- Professional on-site office and maintenance environment.
- Must be physically and mentally able to perform duties for eight hour periods of time.
- Ability to use a computer and other office productivity tools with sufficient speed to meet the demands of this position. This includes completing timesheets and daily work reports.
- Physically able to move about in a construction environment to include walking, stooping, bending, stretching, and climbing ladders and stairs.
- Ability to lift up to 40 lbs.
- Must maintain a safe, productive, and professional work environment.
Work location: Los Angeles, CA or Washington DC. Remote work arrangements can be considered for up to 6 months, but ultimately candidate will be required to permanently relocate to one of these locations.

The projected range for this position is $65,000-$86,000 annually. Depending upon other factors, i.e., skills, experience, location, market conditions, the range may vary slightly. This is for CA ONLY.
