Description

The Coordinator for Work-Based Learning will work closely with the Director, WBE and Apprenticeship, the Coordinator, Apprenticeship and Directors from each meta-major to provide students with work experience opportunities closely aligned with their program/course of study. This position will collaborate with business and industry partners and stakeholders in workforce development. The Coordinator will teach all WBL courses (see below) and perform administrative activities essential for each course to include tracking, engaging, coordinating, of all WBL related activities to ensure compliance with all set NCCCS expectations.

Examples of Duties

  1. Work with faculty and students to apply for and coordinate WBL work experience sites;
  2. Collaborate with faculty and staff to identify current and future internships, externships and job shadowing opportunities;
  3. Collaborate with secondary schools’ and various WBL coordinators in service area to foster engagement;
  4. Work closely with Career Services and Human Resource Development (HRD) to plan and implement programs and instruction for career enhancement opportunities (e.g., mock interviewing, resume writing).
  5. Demonstrate knowledge of workforce development needs in service area;
  6. Develops and coordinates work-site learning activities jointly with employers in business/industry;
  7. Meets with industry personnel who supervise WBL students in accordance the North Carolina Community College System (NCCCS) curriculum expectations;
  8. Actively seeks opportunities to acquaint and recruit business/industry’s participation in work-based education;
  9. Works with program directors, community partners and business and industry leaders to secure WBL opportunities;
  10. Support the WBE Director in establishing and making continuous improvement to the WBL advisory committee;
  11. Collaborates and engages with internal and external stakeholders to initiate partnerships and enhance student success;
  12. Work collaboratively and directly with all departments of the Center for Workforce Engagement – Career Services, Corporate Services, HRD, and SBC.
  13. Collaborates with WBE Director to schedule all WBL courses in a manner to meet the needs of the students.
  14. Plan and teach all credit and non-credit WBL (e.g., WBL 110, WBL 111, WBL 121, WBL 3100A) courses throughout the college’s meta-majors;
  15. Collect and prepare all WBL documentation for NCCCS compliance review in collaboration with the college’s Curriculum Development and Support staff;
  16. Works with program directors and students to establish student Measurable Learning Objectives for WBL courses;
  17. Conduct an informal annual audit of all WBL courses to align with college and NCCCS expectations.
  18. Pursue and maintain a positive, helpful, and constructive attitude and work relationship with supervisor, college staff, students, and the community.
  19. Other appropriate duties as assigned by the Director, Executive Director, or President.

Minimum Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree or higher in counseling, education, human resources development, workforce development or related field from a regionally accredited postsecondary institution.
