Description:
To supervise the district’s before and after school programs to ensure a safe and nurturing environment for all participating students and families through quality programming.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s or Associate’s degree in related field
  • Valid Ohio teaching license is preferred
  • Experience in education, recreation or closely related field involving coordination or directing a daycare, school age child care programs.
  • Knowledge of basic computer technology, or willingness to acquire and appropriately apply such knowledge
  • Knowledge of positive behavior management strategies

Responsibilities and Essential Functions:

  • Plans and implements developmentally appropriate programs that comply with Ohio Department of Education and the Ohio Department of Job and Family Services regulations and guidelines
  • Pursues innovative and creative programming opportunities for students, including off-campus learning and recreational experiences
  • Supports an inclusive educational environment
  • Recruits and trains staff to implement program objectives and function as part of a cohesive team
  • Supervises and evaluates assigned staff
  • Schedules regular meetings and makes available professional development opportunities for staff
  • Develops staff and program handbooks, including necessary forms, and updates them annually
  • Develops and maintains program budgets
  • Works with district administrators to determine student fees
  • Works with district representatives to determine facilities and space that will be used for the program
  • Coordinates before and after school transitions for students with elementary school administrators and the transportation department
  • Develops and maintains effective communication systems with parents and school personnel
  • Surveys community members and parents periodically to determine customer satisfaction and recommended program changes
  • Acts as a liaison with New Albany Parks and Recreation, other community leaders and district staff when the need arises
  • Maintains the confidentiality of privileged information
  • Participates in professional development activities appropriate to position and subscribes to professional journals
  • Serves as a role model for students and staff in the practice of ethical principles, responsible behavior and democratic values
  • Maintains a professional appearance
  • Performs any/all other job functions determined by the superintendent or his/her designee

Terms, Compensation and Benefits:
The successful candidate will be offered a one-year 221-day contract via the Educational Service Center of Central Ohio (ESCCO) as a contracted service for the New Albany-Plain Local Schools. Starting salary is $60,000/year, placement commensurate with proven experience and skills based upon job qualifications and performance responsibilities outlined herein. Comprehensive benefits.
