Position Announcement
The Utah Valley University School of the Arts is seeking an outgoing and detail oriented coordinator to assist with events and community engagement! The part-time Coordinator will be reporting to the Executive Director of the Noorda Center in the School of the Arts, the SOA Events and Outreach Coordinator position will be assigned to coordinate and aid in the execution of events across the entire school including receptions, meet and greets, masterclasses, workshops, special meetings, award ceremonies, convocation, commencement and other interactions between UVU students, faculty, staff and outside artists. This position will work closely with a variety of SOA stakeholders and will be an energetic and proactive member of the SOA. The SOA Events & Outreach Coordinator will work directly with the Events and Production Services team, UVU Museum of Art team, Front of House, Box Office, and other UVU service providers to coordinate logistics, event needs, and set-ups. The SOA Events & Outreach Coordinator will be responsible for communicating and connecting external groups and business with the programs, events, shows, and exhibitions of the School of the Arts including The Noorda, UVU Museum of Art, and the SOA Academic Departments. They will assist with communications between external groups and Box Office, Marketing, Events and Production Services, UVU Museum of Art, Advancement, and other internal stakeholders.
Summary of Responsibilities
- Noorda Series: Coordinate the logistics for masterclasses and workshops for UVU and SOA departments engaging faculty and students in direct artist interactions. Coordinate and communicate schedules and logistics of receptions, meet and greets, masterclasses, and other assigned events to all members of the team, ensuring everyone knows what is going on. Actively reach out to local businesses, schools, community groups, studios, and others, external parties as well as UVU departments and areas to promote Noorda Series ticket sales, group sales and artist engagements in collaboration and under the direction of SOA Marketing.
- SOA/Museum events: Assist with the coordination, communication of schedules, logistics, and details for receptions, meet and greets, masterclasses, business meetings, retreats, awards night, convocation and commencement, and other assigned SOA events to all members of the SOA as needed. Aid in event execution as available. Proactively reach out to local businesses, schools, community groups, studios, and internal academic and administrative areas to promote exhibitions at The UVU Museum of Art at Lakemount, as well as other SOA events as assigned.
- Perform other Job-related duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
Associates degree from an accredited university and at least one year of experience; or, the equivalent of education and experience totaling three years.
Preferred Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in marketing, event planning, or similar.
Knowledge, Skill, and Abilities
Knowledge:
- Experience with event planning and scheduling.
- Adept at business communication and able to talk passionately about what the SOA is doing.
Skills:
- Self-driven and detail oriented.
- Proficient with Microsoft Suite.
- Able to quickly learn online systems for document management and information sharing.
Abilities:
- Able to create solutions where problems are presented.
- Able to build and maintain relationships with vendors, artists, agents, and clients of The Noorda and School of the Arts-work for many clients.
- Ability to have a calm and cool demeanor under pressure.
