Gilbert Unified School District
Purpose Statement
To provide support and leadership in the area of World Language curriculum, instruction, assessment and professional development Essential Functions
- Assist in the development of world language curriculum and assessments
- Coordinate the world language programs
- Work with teachers to develop world language curriculum and objectives with sequential articulation across the program levels
- Coordinate the selection of textbooks and materials for the world language programs
- Provide leadership and support to teachers and administrators in promoting and explaining the world language program
- Provide assistance to all world language teachers about the content and methodology for teaching
- Create and maintain a website providing information and materials on world languages
- Collaborate effectively with district and school personnel
- Assist principals and teachers with the implementation of world language curriculum
- Provide professional development in the area of world language
- Develop and maintain records and reports as necessary
- Participate in and chair a variety of meetings pertaining to primary function
- Provide coaching support by
- Collaborating with campus administration and world language teachers to ensure effective implementation of the world language curriculum
- Attending planning sessions and/or PLC meetings in order to provide input on curriculum pacing, instructional strategies, and/or assessments
- Observing and providing appropriate feedback to teachers in order to improve effectiveness of world language instruction
- Modeling effective lessons demonstrating best practices in world language instruction
- Other duties as assigned
Minimum Qualifications
- Arizona Secondary teaching certification required
- Master’s degree in education or related field preferred
- Knowledge of academic standards, curriculum mapping, formative and summative assessments
- Minimum of 5 years teaching experience
- Effective communication skills a must
Experience
Job related experience within specialized field is required.
Education
Master’s degree from an accredited educational institution.
