Summary:

We are seeking a part-time, freelance Copywriter to assist our Design, Product, and Marketing teams with major initiatives and ongoing projects. Ideally, this candidate will have experience with e-commerce product descriptions, SEO writing for e-commerce, and a range of product and marketing copywriting experience, as well as a passion for the ocean and an understanding of surf culture and language. This role will work directly with our in-house Senior Copywriter and collaborate cross-functionally with designers, product managers, marketing team members, and external production partners.What You’ll Do:

  • Gain a deep understanding of our products to ensure that all copy is cohesive and pushes our brands forward.
  • Adhere to Surfline’s voice and tone guidelines to create copy in an impactful, authentic way.
  • Write copy that helps Surfline users quickly and deeply understand the intent and purpose behind updates, features, and initiatives.
  • Collaborate with Senior Copywriter and stakeholders to write innovative, effective, and on-brand messaging across channels and platforms.
  • Craft copy across all mediums and audiences including our websites, apps, emails, ad campaigns, push notifications, organic social, marketing collateral, and more.
  • Work with our in-house gear experts to write engaging e-commerce product descriptions following Surfline guidelines.

What We’re Looking For:

  • Ability to deeply understand our product, initiatives, customers, and value propositions.
  • Copywriting experience for a creative agency, brand, or business writing role.
  • Proven experience working alongside other copywriters, product managers, designers, and product marketers to build compelling product experiences.
  • A portfolio with samples of product, marketing, and email content that showcases an impeccable writing craft and a flair for brevity.
  • A strong understanding of marketing and content channels and the ability to adapt writing to fit the needs of the audience.
  • Familiarity with design considerations and partnership, with a high level of comfort receiving constructive feedback.
  • Experience following brand guidelines to ensure consistent copy no matter where users interact with the brand.
  • Excellent communication skills and a mastery of standard English spelling, grammar, and style.
  • Ability to prioritize and manage deadlines and provide deliverables on time.
  • Knowledge of the surf industry, lifestyle, and culture.
  • Highly collaborative team player.

You May Also Have:

  • Understanding of SEO and its implementation
  • Experience with copywriting in Australia and the UK
  • Passion for surfing and/or ocean activities

Pay Rate:

This is a contracted freelance position with an hourly rate of $25-$35 per hour. In accordance with applicable state laws, the range provided is Surfline’s reasonable estimate of the hourly rate for this role. The actual amount may be higher or lower, based on non-discriminatory factors such as experience, knowledge, skills, abilities, and location.
