Job Duties and Responsibilities

The Corporate Communications Manager of Wireless helps set and execute the strategic goals for the Communications & Public Relations Team supporting DISH’s growing wireless business. This role will develop and execute integrated communications plans utilizing owned and earned media, partnering with the respective wireless business units and executives to drive the company’s goals.

Strategic Thinking and Business Acumen:

  • Develop and promote the overarching DISH Wireless narrative, understanding and simplifying complex ideas and technical issues to make them relatable to those in and outside the industry.
  • Establish and cultivate productive relationships with media, including reporters across trade/industry, local, consumer, business, and national outlets, while representing DISH as part of any incident response to advise and coordinate appropriate external communication.
  • Serve as a trusted communications advisor to the company, prepare and media train spokespeople, and provide constructive feedback to executives as a communications subject matter expert.
  • Anticipate and proactively offer solutions to senior leadership for issues and opportunities, following standard operating procedures and communications to enhance the department’s effectiveness.
  • Upholds the highest standards of integrity, informs all her/his actions from that basis, and happily assumes other duties as assigned.

Project Management:

  • Create and oversee the development of PR materials, including news releases, fact sheets, media pitches, Q&As, FAQs to help secure national, local, and trade earned media placements; actively pitch, conduct proactive follow-up, and track and report results.
  • Develop and manage thought leadership plans for DISH’s wireless executive team, including identifying and vetting opportunities with the most impact, handling logistics, creating briefing materials, and staffing speaking engagements and events.
  • Manage review and approval processes for key stakeholder and senior management input and sign-off.

Team Leadership:

  • Help manage resource allocation across the team and further develop highly capable communications professionals; lead team discussions and help find solutions to team-wide needs while modeling a collaborative, results-focused, and team-oriented approach.
  • Participate in the review process by providing constructive input on experiences with supervisors and colleagues relevant to the team and personal growth and development by continually upgrading knowledge, skills, and abilities to increase performance and long-term development goals.
  • Coach team members on communicating with and presenting to senior leaders and outside organizations.
  • Develop, maintain and improve the communications platforms (written, visual, verbal, or electronic) DISH relies upon to communicate with all stakeholders.

Skills, Experience and Requirements

Candidates should have progressive levels of public relations experience and strategies. The ideal candidate is an efficient task manager skilled in program execution with a proven ability to leverage influential media contacts, lead cross-functional teams and generate results.

A successful Corporate Communications Manager has the following:

  • Bachelor’s degree in public relations, journalism, communications, marketing, or a similar field.
  • 8+ years of professional PR/communications experience working in highly regulated industries and at companies in rapid growth mode.
  • The wireless industry and public policy experience are preferred.
  • Mastery of AP style and the ability to draft all media materials based on these guidelines.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including strong media relations skills; experience writing news releases, blog posts, social media content, pitches, speeches, and other materials.
  • Demonstrated ability to use creative thinking to develop PR opportunities, media stories, and social media content.
  • Well-developed critical thinking and decision-making skills; the ability to formulate a clear viewpoint on complicated issues, communicate recommendations, and present new ideas to management.
  • Strict attention to detail and the ability to work against tight deadlines; solid organizational and project management skills; the ability to adapt to changing priorities and manage projects autonomously.

Salary Range

Compensation: $95,000.00/Year – $120,000.00/Year

The base pay range shown is a guideline. Individual total compensation will vary based on factors such as qualifications, skill level, and competencies; compensation is based on the role’s location and is subject to change based on work location. Candidates need to successfully complete a pre-employment screen, which may include a drug test and DMV check.
