Job Description

The Communications Specialist serves as a member of the SGS North America communications team, reporting to the Director of Marketing & Communications SGS North America. The Communications Specialist will be a bold thinker, helping execute communication strategies, infusing creativity and a fresh outlook to the marketing and communication efforts that support SGS North America goals. All ideas will be considered, we want people that are not afraid to speak up, try something new, push the limits and challenge the status quo.

  • Responsible for coordinating and managing the development and production of communications materials.
  • Help us tell our story. We want storytellers to make sure we are the ones in control of our narrative and not someone else.
  • Creates, streamlines, and drives all content, ensuring alignment with overall business objectives.
  • Develops clear, concise internal and external communication plans.
  • Creates and manages email campaigns for internal clients that tie in with social media efforts.
  • Takes a holistic approach to digital marketing and is not afraid to propose and carry out ideas.
  • Manages assigned tasks and projects, collaborating effectively with internal clients to devise strategy and execute print, web, and multimedia communications collateral.
  • Collects and analyzes defined metrics to evaluate success of new communications deliverables.
  • Acts as our social media community manager
  • Builds on and executes SGS North America’s organic social media content strategy with three primary goals: build brand awareness, improve recruitment efforts, and educate on division capabilities
  • Generates, repurposes, edits, publishes, and shares content (original text, images, or video) to engage, attract, and connect with our social community across all organic platforms (Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn)
  • Creates a dynamic social content calendar, achieving KPIs through effective content planning and real-time customer engagement
  • Monitors and analyzes social media performance metrics to identify opportunities for improvement and optimization
  • Crafts engaging copy for social media channels, adapting SGS North America’s brand voice to social platforms
  • At all times complies with SGS Code of Integrity and Professional Conduct.

Qualifications

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Marketing, Business, New Media or Public Relations
  • 1-3 years’ experience preferred

SKILLS AND ABILITIES

  • Extensive knowledge of the principles, practices and techniques of oral and written communications
  • Skill in writing for a variety of audiences, writing and editing news and feature articles.
  • Ability to write/edit in a variety of writing styles, ability to draft materials on a wide range of topics.
  • Ability to translate complex technical language and ideas into language easily comprehensible to non-specialists.
  • Proven working experience in social media or related field
  • Excellent consulting, writing, editing (photo/video/text), presentation and communication skills
  • Ability to demonstrate social networking experience
  • Interpersonal skills to facilitate work with a wide range of individuals and groups from diverse business lines.

Salary – $55,000-$65,000 (based on experience)
