Responsibilities

Role Summary: (Remote/Virtual – light travel as needed)

Frontdoor seeks a talented, energetic, innovative and self-motivated attorney with at least 3-5 years of relevant legal experience to serve as Corporate Counsel – Employment and Litigation. This position will report directly to the Assistant General Counsel – Employment and Litigation and will be responsible for advising on a range of employment-related matters and handling various litigation and arbitration matters.This role requires a person to possess a strong analytical and problem-solving mindset, coupled with an employment and/or litigation background. The ideal candidate will have a practical, business-oriented approach to problem-solving and will value working in a dynamic and fast-paced corporate environment.

Responsibilities include:

  • Providing high quality legal advice and counsel in a timely fashion to the Assistant General Counsel, other legal team members and business partners on employment issues pertaining to the operations and continued growth and expansion of our home service plan business and related businesses.
  • Assisting with the company’s response in various dispute proceedings, including federal and state litigation, government investigations, arbitration matters and administrative proceedings before the EEOC and other agencies.
  • Providing legal support to the People team regarding employment and labor-related matters, which may include employee relations issues, policy development and employee benefit plan compliance.
  • Assuring company compliance with federal, state and local labor and employment laws including the Fair Labor Standards Act, State and local wage and hour laws, the Americans with Disabilities Act, the Occupational Safety and Health Act, the Family Medical Leave Act, Title VII and ERISA.
  • Developing strategies to mitigate risks, especially with regard to litigation, arbitration and enforcement issues.
  • Assisting as needed on labor and employment issues for the company’s international operations.
  • Identifying and analyzing legal issues, and effectively communicating sound, understandable legal recommendations to the appropriate business team members.
  • Actively participating in a collaborative manner in cross-functional business teams to identify, evaluate, and resolve complex business issues and risks.
  • Working with and supervising outside counsel and managing litigation budgets, as appropriate.
  • Willingness to handle other projects and matters as may be assigned from time to time.

Qualifications

Requirements:

  • J.D. with at least 3-5 years legal experience, preferably in a law firm or in-house legal department handling employment and/or litigation matters, although willing to consider strong candidates with other experiences;
  • Expertise operating in a complex regulatory environment and/or an innovative or rapidly-growing company or similar business venture is strongly preferred;
  • Top academic record and large firm experience preferred;
  • Creative problem solver with customer focus and “can do” attitude;
  • Ability to multi-task with a sense of urgency and ability to meet deadlines within a changing, fast-paced environment;
  • Team player with strong interpersonal, communication and presentation skills;
  • Able to easily build rapport and the gain the confidence and respect of peers and business leaders;
  • Possess strong issue identification and problem-solving skills;and
  • Good standing in a state bar with the ability to join the Tennessee bar as in-house counsel.

Location:

  • Remote, but willingness to travel to business locations as required.

Other/State Specific

This role pays between $147,300 to $203,500 and your actual base pay will depend on your skills, qualifications, responsibilities, experience, and location.
