Key job responsibilities
This lawyer will:
• Provide day-to-day legal support to business teams and develop strategies for handling legal issues in creative, efficient, and business-centric ways
• Help business teams launch new features and product categories
• Serve as lead counsel in drafting and negotiating commercial agreements
• Resolve issues arising in existing commercial relationships and handle pre-litigation legal disputes and inquiries
• Manage regulatory compliance matters, including liaising with federal and provincial agencies on a variety of issues and products and developing and implementing long-term strategic planning

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
• J.D. degree from an accredited Canadian or American law school
• Active membership in at least one provincial bar, with the ability to be licensed in Washington, Virginia or New York
• 5+ years of legal experience as a transactional or regulatory attorney
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
• A mix of corporate law firm and in-house experience is a plus
• Excellent communication, organizational, analytical and computer skills
• Ability to work independently and demonstrate sound judgment in ambiguous situations
• Team player and consensus builder with great people skills who can effectively and efficiently collaborate and build relationships with lawyers and business clients at all levels throughout the organization
• Business acumen combined with ability to identify optimal solutions, including novel, creative and innovative solutions to complex issues
• Thinks strategically, but stays on top of tactical execution, responding openly and flexibly to change

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $123,100/year in our lowest geographic market up to $229,000/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
