Details of the program:

  • The program is open to students at a Junior or Senior level in their Bachelor’s degree program or enrolled in a Master’s Program
  • The Internship is for a full year, June 12, 2023 to May 24, 2024
  • 29 hours per week during business hours (Business Hours: Monday- Friday 8:30am-5:00pm)
  • Paid internship – $18/hour

Location: Mahwah, New Jersey (Hybrid Ways of Working schedule offered)

Department: Port Operations

This position will support the Port Operations Team in the Sales Department.

What you will be doing:

Assisting the Port Operations & Logistics Team in all facets of the operation to achieve monthly wholesale objectives and foster process improvements with the following responsibilities:

  • Perform metric tracking and reporting
  • Collect/analyze/tabulate port operations & vehicle logistics department metrics
  • Support / conduct bi-weekly conference calls with port personnel and inland carriers
  • Assist with carrier performance cost, quality and performance discussions
  • Prepare presentations for special projects as they arise
  • Input / code special invoices for payment
  • Special Moves – provide back up to the Logistics Coordinator
  • Arrange, manage, track, special moves, and RAV (reacquired vehicles) requests that were submitted from JLR internal departments.
  • Support JLR Regions & Fleet Department with inter-regional moves to meet wholesale objectives as requested.
  • Daily Production Reports – provide back up to the Port Operations & Logistics Coordinator
  • As the backup produce daily reporting files use by Port Operations, Logistics & Distribution
  • Project Management #1 – represent the Logistics Team in MLPX discussions related to cost, quality, and performance.
  • Design route capabilities from any Port to any Retailer
  • Assist in sourcing carriers capable of providing anywhere to anywhere capabilities
  • Assist in the development of the IT structure required to provide real time logistics updates to MLPX.
  • Project Management #2 – Support process improvement for Port Installed Accessories
  • Produce and maintain daily data file with inbound Port Installed Accessories volume
  • Evaluate data to determine necessary install personnel required based on installation times.
  • Work with Port Managers and Sales / Distribution Teams to establish capabilities to achieve objectives.
  • Perform other duties as required

What you will need:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in progress (Junior or Senior), or pursuing a graduate studies degree (Preferred degree of study in: Logistics & Supply Chain Management / Business Administration / Materials Management / Transportation Management);
  • 3.0 GPA or higher.
  • Intermediate to advanced Excel and PowerPoint skills (SharePoint experience a plus);
  • High level of professionalism.
  • Detail-oriented, self-starter, strong work ethic, team player, ability to build rapport, and communicate confidently.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills and have a desire to learn more about corporate operations.
