The salary of the finalist selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to departmental budgets, qualifications, experience, education, licenses, specialty, and training. The above hiring range represents the University’s good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting.
Position Summary
Reporting directly to Director of Production, incumbent is responsible for overseeing and executing the preparation and maintenance of costume elements for individual thesis productions produced by the Theatre Program.
Responsibilities
TECHNICAL MANAGEMENT: 95%
- Plan and execute wardrobe preparation and maintenance for costume elements for individual theatre productions. Adhere to master technical schedule, deadlines and production goals as established by the Production Manager.
- Manages the overall operation of the costume shop including design integration, construction, fitting, repairing, cleaning, storing, and cataloging of costumes. Executing alterations generated from fittings and dress rehearsals; and costume crafts, painting, dying, and distressing.
- Managing costume rental contracts, deliveries, and returns.
- Trains/Manages student and over-hire workers on wardrobe calls for performances and maintenance of costumes during productions.
- Plans and implements policy and wardrobe schedules.
- On call during all technical rehearsals and shows
- Oversees run-of-show duties for wardrobe crew.
- Plans, evaluates, supervises, and budgets all elements related to costuming.
- Coordinates with designers to maximize resource effectiveness and expectations.
ADDITIONAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES AS ASSIGNED: 5%
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent is required.
- At least two years field experience in theatre is required.
- Demonstrated skill and agility in costume production techniques as well as safe practices.
- Ability to maintain and repair costumes is required.
- Flexible work schedule required, with evening and weekend hours as assigned by Production Manager.
