Responsibilities

To serve as counsel to and advocate for FM Global on all matters assigned by the Corporate Affairs Manager. Examples include the provision of corporate secretarial services; advice on corporate acquisitions/dispositions and joint ventures; consultant, vendor and service contracts; investment and banking transactions; intellectual property matters including nondisclosure agreements, patents, trademarks and copyright; corporate and individual licensing; brokerage agreements; policy contracting and termination matters; legislative and regulatory monitoring, influencing and assuring compliance. Participation in the development and delivery of trainings to diverse internal groups on such topics as code of conduct, compliance, workplace issues, data privacy and cyber security.

Oversee and administer the delivery of timely and effective legal assistance to the FM Global community except policy defense, litigation and subrogation matters which are handled by the Litigation Division

Monitor, influence, analyze and assure compliance with new or pending legislation, regulations and cases relative to their potential impact on the Company, advising appropriate Company personnel accordingly. This involves both Federal and State laws and requires an in-depth understanding of the operations of the Company.

Analyze for senior management the legal exposures of the Company and make recommendations to reduce exposures to liability or to loss of company rights and assets. Initiate or encourage proactive policies, procedures and strategies in this regard.

Assure that Company operations are within the limits prescribed by law

Qualifications

BA/BS and JD, with admission to at least one state Bar

5+ years in law firm or corporate legal department

Range of general corporate legal experience, preferably in a P/C insurance environment

Excellent verbal and written communication skills

Ability to translate complex concepts into meaningful and practical advice

The hiring range for this position is $126,800 to $182,300. The final salary offer will vary based on individual education, skills, and experience.
