PURPOSE:
Reporting to UNFI’s Senior Counsel, Corporate & Strategic Transactions, this position will support the Corporate & Strategic Transaction Team within the UNFI Legal Department by drafting, reviewing, and negotiating commercial/vendor agreements supporting UNFI’s business operations.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Job Responsibilities
- Draft, review and negotiate commercial/vendor agreements in support of UNFI’s business operations, including service agreements, supply agreements, amendments, and statements of work relating to services, transportation, logistics, and goods not for resale
- Support Senior Counsel and Associate General Counsel with the rollout of standardized vendor agreement templates across the organization
- Advise business clients (including senior management) on a day-to-day basis on contract status and other contract-related matters
- Conduct training to support company contracting practices, policies, and initiatives
- Assist with other legal and compliance matters, as needed
JOB REQUIREMENTS:
Education/ Certifications/or Equivalent combination of education training and experience:
- J.D. degree or equivalent
- Membership in good standing with a state bar and the ability to register as in-house counsel pursuant to the applicable state rules
Experience:
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in a law firm or corporate legal department, including experience with corporate law and drafting/negotiating commercial contracts
Knowledge/ Skills/ Abilities:
- Detail and process oriented
- Strong organizational skills
- Strong interpersonal, communication, and negotiating skills
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment. Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
- Ability to interact with all levels of management/senior leadership
PHYSICAL ENVIRONMENT/DEMANDS:
- Incumbent may sit for long periods of time at desk or computer terminal.

- Incumbent may use calculators, keyboards, telephones and other office equipment in the course of normal workday.
