About the Role:

We are currently searching for a Counsel, Safety who will continue to help us build effective safety policies and scale risk mitigation efforts globally, for all of Uber. This is a great opportunity to contribute to and make a positive impact on Uber’s safety culture.
What You’ll Do:
– Work directly with Uber’s Legal Director for Safety and Vice President of Safety & Insurance to shape effective policies to address safety risks globally.
– Advise on safety investigations, safety research initiatives, safety messaging, safety campaigns, and policy development and implementation.
– Create and present engaging company-wide training regarding safety requirements and standard methodologies
– Collaborate closely with colleagues on other legal and cross-functional teams, such as Product, Policy, IP, Privacy & Security, Litigation, Payments, and Marketing to provide comprehensive advice.
– Create and implement policies and practices to ensure consistent implementation of legal guidance and alignment on risks.
Basic Qualifications
– J.D. and license to practice law in at least one state.
– Minimum of five (5) years of legal experience in private practice and/or in-house
Preferred Qualifications
– At least two (2) years of in-house experience is highly preferred.
– History of driving efficient and strategic use of resources, including technical groups, in-house counsel, vendors, and outside counsel
– Strong interpersonal skills and highly collaborative with both business leaders and legal groups, with a strong ability to build relationships, gain credibility, and partner across functions to build consensus.
– Clear communicator, team orientated, and willing to take initiative while thinking two steps ahead.
– Confidence and flexibility to operate in a fast-paced, constantly evolving environment.

For Chicago, IL-based roles: The base salary range for this role is $176,000 per year – $195,000 per year.
For New York, NY-based roles: The base salary range for this role is $195,000 per year – $216,500 per year.
For San Francisco, CA-based roles: The base salary range for this role is $195,000 per year – $216,500 per year.
For Washington, DC-based roles: The base salary range for this role is $195,000 per year – $216,500 per year.
For all US locations, you will be eligible to participate in Uber’s bonus program, and may be offered an equity award & other types of comp. You will also be eligible for various benefits.
