Counsel, Uber for Business, Product & Commercial

We are looking for an outstanding product and commercial lawyer who specializes in advising fast-paced product teams and enterprise sales organizations. The role requires an ability to collaborate efficiently with diverse cross-functional partners and provide strategic, actionable legal advice to support successful product launches, as well as strong commercial contract skills.

What You’ll Do:

– Partner with the product team and business stakeholders to gain a deep understanding of Uber for Business goals, products, operations, and customers.
– As a product counsel: closely advise product managers, engineers, and product and content designers throughout the product lifecycle; lead and manage legal reviews of proposed product changes and global product launches; coordinate with the broader legal team to identify and assess legal risks; and develop practical solutions and risk mitigations that support business objectives.
– Collaborate closely with colleagues in the Product Legal team and other legal teams, such as Employment, Privacy, Marketing, Payments, Safety, and Tax, to provide comprehensive advice and tackle legal problems quickly for the teams you support.
– Support the large Uber for Business sales organization and handle the review, drafting, and negotiating of a wide variety of contracts including, but not limited to, commercial sales, strategic relationships, promotional, and data privacy agreements.
– Draft and review terms and conditions, FAQs, legal disclaimers, marketing materials, product and support copy, and other policies.

Basic Qualifications

– J.D. and license to practice law in at least one state.
– Minimum of five (5) years of legal experience in private practice and/or in-house, including experience advising on product development and commercial contracts OR Minimum 4 years, including +1 year Uber internal.

Preferred Qualifications

– At least two (2) years of in-house product counsel experience is highly preferred.
– Experience with commercial agreements is highly preferred. Bonus points for experience with commercial sales agreements in particular.
– The ability to juggle multiple projects at a time in an exciting, fast-paced environment, both collaborating as a team to stay in sync and working independently to get the job done.
– Strong interpersonal skills and highly collaborative with both business leaders and cross-functional partners, with a strong ability to build relationships, gain credibility, and partner across functions to build consensus.
– Self-motivation with a strong affinity for vision setting, strategic problem solving, and driving action.

For San Francisco, CA-based roles: The base salary range for this role is $195,000 per year – $216,500 per year.
