Description

SUMMARY: The Dependency Drug Court (DDC)/ Case Manager serves as a liaison between the court, the treatment center and the adult. The DDC/ Case Manager is responsible for alcohol and drug abuse assessment, referrals to and enrollment in treatment services, alcohol and other drug testing, and progress monitoring and reporting of the client(s) to the court. The DDC/ Case Manager develops a Recovery Services Plan (RSP) with the client, which states all initial requirements for substance abuse treatment. The DDC/ Case Manager notifies the court of the referral and acts as a liaison between the treatment site and the court after the client has been admitted for treatment.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: includes the following, as well as performance of other work related duties as assigned:

  1. Provides intake services, interviews, and screens clients in order to assess the needs of the client.
  2. Makes telephone and letters contacts to obtain information regarding the client treatment status
  3. Responsible for verbal and written communication with all service providers as a court representative.
  4. Identifies and documents gaps in resources.
  5. Provides case management for the court, referral to treatment center, and acts as liaison to community services.
  6. Maintains accurate records of client progress within the DDC and Westcare electronic systems.
  7. Distributes appropriate information to the court or other agencies as needed.
  8. Attends court hearings to describe client progress and communication with treatment center.
  9. Attends meetings to discuss the case status.
  10. Requires meetings with clients and /or providers in the community.
  11. Performs related work as required.
  12. Works with the DDC team to assist families in moving forward with the goal of reunification for families while maintaining the safety of the children as the priority.
  13. Contributes to the understanding and acceptance of cultural diversity within the agency and the community;
  14. Utilizes the agencys resources in a conservative manner.
  15. Performs additional duties as assigned by the supervisor.

Qualifications

Essential Qualifications:

Certifications/Licensures:

  • Certification as a CAP or MCAP, in good standing by an agency approved and recognized by the Florida Certification Board is preferred at time of hire; Preference will be given to those candidates who are currently Certified;
  • Licensure as a LCSW, LMHC, or LMFT in good standing by an agency approved and recognized by the state of Florida is preferred at time of hire; Preference will be given to those candidates who are currently licensed

Education:

  • Graduation from an accredited masters program with a degree in Addiction Counseling, Criminal Justice, Social Work, Psychology or related field is preferred.
  • Graduation from an accredited four year college program with a degree in Addiction Counseling, Criminal Justice, Social Work, Psychology or related field is required

Experience and Competencies:

  • Two years of previously supervised work experience in social services
  • Bilingual is preferred.
  • Knowledge human behavior.
  • Knowledge of substance abuse, recovery, and it dynamics, and of the current assessment tools for substance abuse population.
  • Knowledge and familiarity with substance abuse agencies in the community and their requirements.
  • Knowledge of interviewing techniques, casework principles and community resources.
  • Knowledge of the dependency court system.
  • Knowledge of computers and word processing programs.
  • Ability to be well organized and have adequate language and people skills.
  • Ability to identify the needs of the client(s).
  • Ability to maintain accurate case documentation and prepare written information.
  • Ability to perform tasks quickly and accurately.
  • Ability to express ideas clearly and concisely, orally and in writing.
  • Must have reliable means of transportation
