Job Summary:
We are seeking an innovative and strategic thinker to join our team as the Director of Content Marketing. In this role, you will be handling our content marketing strategy to ensure brand transparency and engagement, as well as prospect generation. You will also contribute to content production to fit the needs of various platforms. You will collaborate with various departments to develop compelling content that resonates with our target audiences (small and mid-sized businesses, as well as corporate partners). What the day will look like:
- Develop and implement a comprehensive content marketing strategy that aligns with the company’s overall marketing objectives and goals, as well as our target audience needs.
- Define content standards and ensure adherence to brand guidelines, tone of voice, and style consistency.
- Lead the creation and review of engaging and persuasive content including blogs, social media posts, website copy, website/thought leadership content, whitepapers, informative videos, infographics, case studies, and more.
- Analyze competitive activity to identify content opportunities and industry trends to improve the brand’s thought leadership position.
- Lead a team of 1 direct report and maintain relationships with external agencies, freelancers, and subject matter experts to apply their expertise in content creation
- Partner closely with internal stakeholders, such as Marketing Management and Sales/Insurance Experts to gather content requirements and ensure alignment with business goals
- Set up analytics tools to track and analyze the performance of content initiatives, making data-driven decisions for optimization.
- Manage content production budgets, timelines, and resources effectively, ensuring results are met within established deadlines.
- Collaborate with external influencers and partners to help amplify content reach and engagement.
Skills and Experience that will lead to success:
Education / Experience:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Marketing, Journalism, Communications, or a related field is required.
- 5-7 years of proven experience in Content Marketing, preferably within the B2B, insurance, or technology sectors
- Proven track record implementing successful Content Marketing strategies
- Strong leadership and team management skills with experience in leading and encouraging a team to achieve outstanding results.
Technical:
- A solid understanding of the insurance industry and the ability to understand complex data analytics concepts is a plus
- Familiarity with content management systems and analytics platforms
- Experience with Contentful is a plus
Professional:
- Outstanding written and verbal communication skills with the ability to articulate sophisticated ideas concisely.
- Experience in editorial, freelance, copywriting, or content creation for channels including blogs, website copy, social media, and digital properties.
- Creative and strategic problem solver, with a deep understanding of branding, storytelling, and content marketing principles.
- Ability to adapt to a fast-paced, collaborative work environment and quickly navigate changes in priorities.
- Experience developing and handling budgets, hiring, training, developing, and overseeing teams.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills.
- Team player: high EQ, low ego, resourceful, treats resources as their own.
- Adaptable: works quickly and nimbly; able and willing to wear multiple hats without hesitation; resilient
The salary range for this position is $150,000 to $170,000 annually. The actual salary will vary based on applicant’s education, experience, skills, and abilities, as well as internal equity and alignment with market data. The salary may also be adjusted based on applicant’s geographic location.
This position is eligible to participate in one of Aon’s annual incentive plans to receive a target bonus in addition to base salary. The amount of the target bonus varies and is subject to the terms and conditions of the applicable incentive plan.
