Why does the job exist?
Incumbent will serve as lead worker coordinating and facilitating the placement of children in CYFD custody by studying both relative and non-relative families interested in becoming foster and adoptive families.
How does it get done?
• The senior worker will document and evaluate cases (assessment, permanency plans etc.) individually to quality, quantity and completeness as per CYFD policy and procedures and in accordance with the Protective Services Division practice model. (25%)
• The senior worker will ensure that payments are processed on a timely basis and in accordance with CYFD guidelines in order to support the Protective Services Division practice model and have an effective community relationship with clients and vendors. (25%)
• The senior worker will promote staff and community development by supporting workers and providers in skill building and program development regarding placement services. (25%)
• The senior worker will provide the post-placement services to adoptive and foster families. (25%)
Minimum Qualification
Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work from an accredited college/university, and licensure by the New Mexico Board of Social Work Examiners at the LBSW, LMSW, or LISW level or eligibility for such licensure in accordance with NM requirements OR a Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work, Education, Counseling, Psychology, Sociology, Criminal Justice or Family Services from an accredited college/university and two (2) years of any combination of experience including working with communities on health or social service related matters, social work/case management experience, behavioral health and/or health care. Any combination of education from an accredited college or university in a related field and/or related experience totaling six (6) years may substitute for the required education and experience.
Employment Requirements
Must possess and maintain a valid Driver’s License. Pre-employment background investigation is required and is conditional pending results.
Working Conditions
Work is performed in an office setting: late hours, weekends, on-call and callback work may be required. Will be exposed to regular periods of video display terminal and keyboard usage and stressful situations. Travel is required. Possible exposure to irate clientele. Incumbent will work under stress and frequent time constraints. Incumbent will be required to furnish a personal vehicle for carrying out assignments which may include transporting clients including children. Must have own mode of transportation.
