Creative Arts Therapy – Low Residency Coordinator (71100)

The Department of Creative Arts Therapy at Pratt Institute seeks exceptional applicants for the position of Low Residency Coordinator. In coordination with the Chair and Assistant Chair, the Low Residency Coordinator will oversee the daily operations / overall functioning of the Creative Arts Therapy Low Residency Program, as well as contribute to the development, implementation, and management of the departmental academic affairs for all degree programs in Art Therapy and Dance/Movement Therapy to support and improve the educational life of students, faculty, and staff.
The Creative Arts Therapy Low Residency Coordinator is responsible for all aspects of administration, leadership, oversight, scheduling, and registration for all Art Therapy and all Dance/Movement Therapy students in the Low Residency Program. The Creative Arts Therapy Low Residency Coordinator is a key member of the collaborative leadership team and participates in strategic decision-making to set, plan, and operationalize the department’s mission as a whole. The Low Residency Program is a uniquely structured, 2 1/2-year program offering both in-person and online coursework. Low Residency in-person classes are scheduled in March and from mid-June to mid-July.
The Creative Arts Therapy Department was founded by Arthur Robbins and was one of the first of its kind to introduce art therapy training in the United States. Housed in the School of Art, the department offers two graduate degrees: an M.P.S. in Art Therapy & Creativity Development and an M.S. in Dance/Movement Therapy, as well as low residency versions of these programs.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • In collaboration with the Chair and Assistant Chair, provide academic leadership and assist in planning Low Residency course sequencing/schedules, course offerings, curricular modifications, content delivery, and faculty assignments/oversight.
  • Contribute to the admissions/registration/evaluation/documentation process for all Low Residency Art Therapy and Dance/Movement Therapy students, taking appropriate steps to manage issues as they arise.
  • Assist with scheduling and management of classrooms/facilities and budgetary process, anticipating needs, monitoring inventory, and ensuring access to needed materials.
  • Schedule, facilitate, and maintain records of all leadership meetings, Low Residency faculty meetings, student orientations, community gatherings/meetings, as well as end-of-session reviews and events.
  • Liaise with Residence Life to ensure adequate housing arrangements for students and faculty.
  • Integrate diversity and related principles into all aspects of staff engagement as appropriate, and foster development of a positive working environment for diversity and inclusion.
  • Other administrative duties and assignments, as needed.

SALARY is competitive and commensurate with experience and qualifications. The salary range for this position is $41,000-$45,000. The position will be full-time onsite when Low Residency classes are in session. The position will be 2 days/week onsite throughout the remainder of the year. Hybrid schedule available when possible.

Qualifications

Education: Candidates must hold a minimum of a Master’s degree in Art Therapy or Dance/Movement Therapy.

Experience:

  • Licensure as Creative Arts Therapist (LCAT) required
  • Registry / Board Certification as Art Therapist (ATR-BC) or Board Certification as a Dance/Movement Therapist (BC-DMT) minimum required
  • Minimum of three years of teaching experience in a Graduate Art Therapy or Graduate Dance/Movement Therapy Program.
  • Prior administrative or supervisory experience in an academic or clinical setting required
