About the Office of Career and Technical Education:
The Office of Career and Technical Education operates under the Governor’s Workforce Cabinet as an integral part of the state’s talent development system. The OCTE is uniquely positioned to work with K-12 Education, Higher Education, Workforce Development, and Industry partners to develop and maintain high wage, high skill, and in-demand career pathways that provide individuals the skills necessary to succeed in the modern economy while meeting the needs of employers.
Salary Statement:
The salary for this position traditionally starts between $55,000 – $65,000 based on education and work experience.
Role Overview:
Program Coordinators serve as a part of the CTE programming team that is responsible for supporting stakeholders and implementing CTE programs of study that ensure high quality student outcomes.
About the Job:
Program Coordinators contribute to the work of the Office of Career and Technical Education and the Governor’s Workforce Cabinet by working closely with school corporations, area CTE districts, higher education, other state agencies, and industry stakeholders to provide support, professional development, and resources related to CTE programs. Program Coordinators will also provide statewide leadership in an area of focus to improve student achievement and CTE program quality. Additionally, Coordinators will help to develop, maintain, and implement career pathways and programs of study within an assigned group of career clusters.
A Day in the Life:
The essential functions of this role are as follows:
- Assisting in developing and maintaining clear, seamless career pathways and programs of study between secondary and postsecondary education, and the workforce development system
- Providing assistance to schools and programs in planning and implementing CTE programs
- Assisting with the identification of dual credits, postsecondary credentials, or industry-recognized certifications in content areas and career pathways and helps create buy-in among secondary and postsecondary education partners
- Research curriculum and trends to revise course standards, titles and descriptions in CTE to improve courses and pathways
- Ensures the development of rigorous standards or updating of existing standards for CTE courses including integration of academic standards, 21st Century Skills, and employability skills
- Provides information and assistance to school and area district personnel in areas such as the selection of instructional materials, developing programs/ curriculum, identifying equipment needs, interpreting rules/policies and other requested areas in CTE
- Responds to emails, phone calls, and other inquires related to CTE courses and programs
- Promotes the development of education/ business/industry/ labor partnerships and expansion of dual credit agreements with institutions of higher education
- Serves on related industry boards, working groups, and grants that directly affect Indiana students interested in Career Pathways
- Communicates with and assists the leadership of CTSO’s
- Communicates with and assists the leadership of the CTE professional affiliates
- Assists in coordinating the Division’s internal and external communications and marketing efforts for CTE including webpage, webinars, and online presentations
- Assists, as needed, with required monitoring, auditing and reviewing processes
- Organizes and assists in data collection, analysis, and reporting
- Assists with the development of Course Titles and Descriptions, Course Summaries, Dual Credit Crosswalks
- Serves as a subject matter expert for a group of career clusters
- Serves as an expert for technical assistance areas

What You’ll Need for Success:
The ideal candidate in this role should minimally have either
- Must be productive under tight timeframes
- Able to balance multiple and competing priorities
- Experience in Agriculture or Agricultural Education; CTE classroom teaching experience preferred
- CTE Instructor License or Bachelor’s degree, preferred
- Thorough knowledge of career and technical education (CTE)
- Experience in providing workshops, webinars and technical assistance presentations
- Proven ability to communicate effectively and to work collaboratively with a diverse group of internal and external stakeholders
- Exemplary interpersonal, writing, and communication skills
- Strong technology, problem-solving, and project management skills
- The ability to travel statewide and nationally for conferences, meetings, and presentations
Supervisory Responsibilities/Direct Reports:
This role may serve as a team lead for an assigned work group.
