Cultural Inclusion & Outreach Assistant (part-time)
The cultural inclusion & outreach assistant supports the district’s efforts in serving culturally diverse populations and underrepresented communities. The assistant is responsible for the implementation of assigned projects and activities that support the district’s diversity, equity, inclusion, and access efforts. Incumbents in this job classification work independently, within established guidelines to implement day-to-day activities and tasks. This role supports the equity & inclusion manager and the Financial Aid, Cultural Inclusion, and Volunteer Programs.

Essential Job Functions

- Provide administrative and technical support to financial aid, cultural inclusion, and volunteer programs and complete projects as needed.
- Represent the department and THPRD, including front line communication with the public during events, presentations, and other community engagement opportunities.
- Prepare materials and supplies required for outreach events and community engagement efforts and assist with set-up and take down.
- Prepare and/or proofread a variety of forms, letters, flyers, promotional materials, etc. rough draft, or detailed instruction.
- Research and collect data for special projects.
- Respond to inquiries and provide general information.
- Lead volunteers at a variety of one-day events, including special events and cultural events.
- Attend staff meetings.
- Other duties as assigned.

- Perform general clerical work including maintenance of appropriate records and compiling information compiling information and data for reports under supervision.
- Maintain confidentiality regarding confidential information and data.
- Work in a group or individually, with minimal supervision.
- Speak, read, and write in Spanish.
Working Conditions & Physical Demands:
Duties are primarily performed in an office environment while sitting at a desk, working at a computer terminal, and outdoors in varying weather conditions during the implementation of special events. Duties also include leading, addressing, and directing groups of various sizes at outdoor events. The flow of work and character of duties involve normal mental and visual attention much or all of the time. Frequent focus on a computer screen. Manual dexterity and coordination may be required, making up more than 50% of the work period. Daily precise control of fingers and hand movements while operating computer keyboard, telephone, and standard office equipment. Incumbent is typically exposed to office noises and interruptions, such as printers, telephones, visitors, etc. Occasional dealing with distraught or difficult individuals. Physical exertion may be to lift files and event supplies weighing less than 25 pounds. Requires crouching, bending, kneeling, and reaching to perform duties. Occasional driving on public roadways will be required.
*Positions in this classification assume a schedule of flexible working hours, including weekends and evenings.* Part-time employees may work less than 1,560 hours per year.
Education and Experience
Any equivalent combination of education, experience, and training that would likely provide the applicant with the required knowledge, skills and abilities is qualifying. A typical way to obtain the knowledge and abilities would be:
Equivalent to the completion of the twelfth grade and two (2) years of experience, training and/or course work in administration, community engagement, communication, diversity & inclusion, racial justice, or relevant experience including lived experiences.
Licenses and Certifications:
- Valid Oregon Driver License with good driving record required
- Must be age 18 or older.
- Bilingual language skills in English and Spanish are required.
