Overview:
The Ohio Department of Education is seeking an individual to join the Office of Learning and Instructional Strategies team as an Education Program Specialist. We are looking for a talented individual with strong classroom experience and an understanding of curriculum implementation as well as providing professional development for adult learners.
Major Responsibilities and Duties:
Serves as the Education Program Specialist of the Office of Learning and Instructional Strategies (OLIS):
- Supports the work of Each Child, Our Future by supporting the work around high-quality instructional materials;
- Works with districts, schools, and local education associations in supporting the development of a process to review curriculum needs;
- Co-creates professional learning around the selection and implementation of high-quality, standards-aligned instructional materials;
- Collaborates with other ODE colleagues, local school district staff, local education agencies and higher education to promote and foster learning specific to Ohio’s Learning Standards;
- Assist internal staff in the efforts to support districts, teachers and stakeholders in the selection and implementation of high-quality, standards-aligned instructional materials;
- Supports the Associate Director and Assistant Director and serves as curriculum contact in cross-office initiatives;
- Delivers strong customer service to stakeholders including outstanding communication and interpersonal skills;
- Stays current in regard to research and national trends specific to curriculum selection and implementation, standards implementation, and instructional strategies;
- Initiates and models active and collaborative leadership across departments/programs; and
- Successfully manages multiple projects and initiatives;
Performs other duties (e.g., represents agency in professional associations; creates reports and strategic position papers in collaboration with leadership).
