We Are Seeking
Gilbert has an exciting opportunity for a Custodian who is innovative, driven, and passionate about serving the community.
The Custodian positionreports to the Parks Field Supervisor. The primary function of this position is to perform general and/or specialized maintenance involving cleaning and general maintenance of Town properties, parks, ramadas, athletic fields, sports courts, grounds, equipment, and related facilities. Perform basic manual labor and general landscaping associated with maintaining grounds, parks and trails, parking areas, athletic fields, sports courts, picnic sites, and ramadas including power-washing, blowing, graffiti removal, refuse control, and trash removal. This position will operate general equipment including mower, chain saw, pruners, trimmer, blowers, power washing equipment, and other general grounds maintenance equipment such as utility vehicles and ATVs. Operating various cleaning and maintenance equipment, hand tools, ladder, and general cleaning tools. This position will assist with the capture and rescue of wildlife by working with park rangers, appropriate authorities, and external agencies;
We are looking to fill a 40 hour fully benefited position. This role is based out of Cactus Yards and requires afternoon, evening, and weekend hours. In addition, this position will be expected to work some holidays and/or fill in for staff shortages during the week. Some periodic flexibility is a must.

- High School Diploma or equivalent (G.E.D.).
- Six months of previous experience and/or training involving custodial work.
- Any equivalent combination of experience and training which provides the knowledge and abilities necessary to perform the work.
- Valid Arizona Driver’s License.
This position is an At-Will position and is FLSA Non-Exempt – eligible for overtime compensation
About You
The Town of Gilbert Custodian cleans, cares for, and disinfects floors, work surfaces, windows, walls, restrooms, and the exterior area of town facilities. This position will operate various equipment including floor cleaners, hand tools, ladders, and general cleaning tools. They also provide customer service by making sure the needs of internal and external customers are met in a timely fashion.
The following knowledge and skills are needed for this position:
- Knowledge of National Fire Protection Association Standards
- Knowledge of applicable federal, state, and local laws, codes, regulations, and/or ordinances.
- Skill in general maintenance techniques, safe equipment practices and/or general cleaning practices, and cleaning and maintenance of facilities.
- Skill in customer service and working in a team environment.
